Man your car is sick !!! Which 4 link did you use , ? I'll prob pick up another Gambino one next week
Thank you. I just used some universal one. Gambinos should work great. They're a lot stronger then a two link. My opinion. Keep up the great work. I love buicks haha
Subscribed. Have a 52 Special all original (other than paint and 12v)- runs like a dream.... so ye i plan to change that somewhat and drop a 401 in it so will also redoing everything under the car. Im looking at Jag IFS and IRS. cheap, comes with good breaks and fits up on a buick nice. main concern may be the dif and high torque. Once thats all done im thinking 2' front and 3' rear chop. then 66 cady tail lights or 56 Buick or 57 Packard... still some ways off till that stage. best of luck and will be keeping my eye on the thread for updates. Alex
Got to prepping for the notch . I believe these cars only need a 2 to 3 " notch to lay out on 6.70s. Since there's a coil pocket in the frame , it would make it a little tricky to reinforce on the inside if I did a baby half moon c notch. I got a killer deal on this Gambino notch with bag plates so I decided to run with it. I'll try posting as many pics as I can through out the build ... And here's progress on my lower link chassis mounts Here they are mocked up
Really nice weld......Ive only been welding for a year. Im assuming this is MIG, but it has a nice look to it, almost TIG. Did you use a V pattern and just keep going or did you start and stop to get that overlapped look? Thanks
It's mig . I guess more like what people consider and e or backwards e . I've done more sheet metal work than anything so I'm not the best of help. Haha sorry, I start my weld , get it hot and move mostly from left to right (cause it's comfortable for me) and once I get the first puddle and move down and towards the top and push the weld back into my trail . I can't explain it too well but I'll help as much as I can
The backwards e makes sense. I'll have to try that. I usually make a coil from top to bottom and keep working left to right as well. I rarely work on material that heavy though - was that 1/4"?
My goal each time I work on this pile is to get at least one thing done . So here was tonight's progress ...
Lookin good Mijo, its almost time to hammer out some more sheet metal work! finish shaving it and whack a couple inches off the top
What do you need me to come hold your hand? hahaha when I go out there I'm gonna cut my dashboard out of that parts car and grab my 389... I might even barbecue so you don't hurt yourself trying
Well since the air bag set up I got for free wasn't that great , crusty Firestone bags and 2 Thomas compressors ... I decided to run my aircraft hydraulic set up instead so here we go...
