    Dave
That green 55 really is nice.
Some subtle mods to the side trim too.

    I also dig 55 210's.
This no doubt is a newer build, and I'm not a fan of (wide) whites and usually these wheels either, but oooooh this thing is sexy with thin whites and Supremes.

And some 55 BelAir Hardtops have been known to get my attention too!

Thanks, man ... :) Yeah, it's a newer build, but I built it to resemble the cars in my neighborhood circa 1965.
    327, flaked roof, etcetera ...

  14. This is just a daily driver, and our road trip car. The more you use a car the more fun they are. The grandkids love this old NOMAD. 011.jpg 022.jpg 20160114_135316.jpg

Beautiful car! Does't get any better than a 1956 Chevrolet, Model 150, 2 door Sedan (well, only if it's a Utility Sedan that is), and it's the SAME color as my 56 Sedan Delivery. Beautiful! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

  17. Interesting.... a 55A alternator, factory installed in '55 (LP.O. 1000). I guess alternators are traditional....

  18. DDDenny - Artists' renditions of cars in old ads are the best. The tires are a little fatter, bodies are lower and sleeker.
Ron - your ''driver'' is beautiful. '56 nailed it for the Nomad. Each of the tri 5s has a high water mark for me.
1955 sedan delivery 265V8 Lack of any trim is sooo smooth!

    Good eye Steve
I didn't enlarge the photo before sending, a factory installed alterntor in a 56 Chevy.
Kinda wonder if it was available in 55, possibly optioned for the first V8 trucks.
    NASCAR?

  21. Most don't realize that alternators have been around a lot longer than they think. The early versions were much larger than their modern counterparts and most had large external rectifiers/heatsinks, besides being expensive. The only ones I've seen were on emergency vehicles (although I've heard they were common on buses too), where long periods of idling with lights on required the superior low-speed output that alternators offer. The oldest one I've seen personally was on a '47 Chev coupe that used to belong to the Seattle FD as a chiefs car. The alternator was the size of a 2lb coffee can and the rectifier unit the size of a toaster (and got nearly as hot in use). It was 6V too. Now, this wasn't a factory unit; it had been pretty obviously 'installed' when the car had the FD equipment put in. It was a Leece-Neville; they started selling conversions right after WWII. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this optional GM alternator was a Leece-Neville unit.

56 with a 327 .040 over, L2166 F pop ups, 64 cc camel humps with 2.02/1.60s, 3.36 gears and of course a set of hooker headers...nothing rings better than a set of headers on a high compression 327... hahahaha

my Facebook friend, Don Stephenson ran this 57, "TENSION" in the 60's. 2-time NHRA champ, went to the WinterNationals in Pomona in 69. his tow rig then was a 67 Chevelle SS396-375hp. drove from Omaha to Pomona in January for it. the original car was found in a farm field in Iowa a few years ago & completely restored. 1969 winternationals.jpg 12540998_519704091529418_6535431489391326239_n.jpg 954801_10201252344567548_508201478_n.jpg
