I'm dredging up my old post, hopefully folks will add some more stuff....I'm gonna add something I've been working on for a long time, a little bit at a time. The radiator sits lower than the engine in my car, making it impossible to totally fill the cooling system. So I built a top fill thermostat housing, with a quick release lid. It works on an eccentric to seal the oring. Once it over centers there is a pin lock. I'm machine buffing it then I'm gonna hand buff to soften the sheen. The pix are works in progress. I made a shifter a couple years ago, then decided to modify it to add overdrive, but also to make it work better. I reduced the size of the lever, so I could make the gates smaller, and add some extra stops to prevent missed shifts. Lots of wiring...which replaces the overdrive computer with a couple switches and a relay.

Here is another cooling system part. This will be paired with my four two barrel intake. The thermostat area is so small I'm gonna build a water neck and this will allow me to fill the cooling system for the highest point. The lever is an eccentric that over centers and locks.

ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1453137319.575539.jpg more cooling system parts. This is a overflow tank for more car. There is a pin lock that allows the top to open. Hidden inside is a stand pipe to allow pressure relief and if the coolant get too high it can vent out of the stand pipe. The steel bracket will weld to the frame and then the tank will bolt to the bracket.

Never liked the whole "arm hanging out the side of a hot rod" deal. Also hated clubby steering columns and turn signal levers, so I made turn signal switches out of Hurst line-loc switches, tied in with a hidden, self cancelling signal box.

Hairpins, ladder bars, sway bar, rear panhard bar, pedals, column support, steering shaft support, motor mounts, clutch pivot pieces, tubular firewall legs, nerf bars and mounts.
These are mostly non purchased pieces, the pedals and sway bar arms were bought but detailed with drilled holes. Everything is plated in low lustre brushed nickel, the plating did have a price tag though.

You've really got that latching stuff down, how about a thread to show the mechanics, angles and linkages to make them work?
I too have a modified, they are so tiny everything has to be made and since there is so little space I decided to add a little luggage rack to the top of my gas tank before the tank gets painted. It is stainless steel - this is a work in progress shot I took yesterday after tackwelding the rear bracket to the tank. I was figuring how to make the front supports and it has to be removable. Only 2 of the 4 rods are sitting in place, tag light/backup light is '50s JagXK120, steel channels are for leather and stainless tank straps. DSC00959.JPG DSC01468.JPG

Oj, that tank and rack is cool! The modifieds do have to have hand made parts. I learned that early on with mine. Everything looks out of scale.
This is the latest parts I'm working on and two twos intake for my new 283. All kind of stuff to run no hole cal custom VC's. Oil filler, fuel block, new throttle cable mount. I made (2 sets) of wheel stands in 2006 with the intentions of marketing and retailing. After considering the liability involved I scraped the idea. They sure are handy, before I was using jack stands but they were always in the way and never high enough to use a roller creeper. unpainted stands (239 x 360).jpg IMG_3706 (2736 x 1536).jpg IMG_3708 (2736 x 1536).jpg IMG_3707 (2736 x 1536).jpg

  24. OK I'll play I made this setup a few years back, shortened the housing, made all the 4 link brakets and the drive shaft hoop. I don't have a pic but I went on to shorten and balance the driveshaft while I was at it.

While I am thinking about it these are not to technical but I made these jack stands for when modern jack stands just won't do.

This aint much either but this carb cover is made from the air cleaner end cap for a Gardener Denver screw compressor. You can't see it but I also made the base plate.

    mushrooms[1].jpg

These don't look lie much but the Raven and I made these headers last minute ( literally) from a 15 dollar set of swap meet headers cut up and fit to the roadster.

This could be considered billet but I carved this gauge panel from a piece of aluminum plate a few years back, the gauges are sunken so that a set of SW gauges the bezels are flush with the face.

Hey this is fun I have found pics of stuff I have built all over the place. LOL

I copied your idea, and I added some skateboard grip tape to the top surface. They work really well.
As for other handmade parts, there are loads of them on my build thread.

Here are a few things I've made pretty recently

This is a handle for a hood latch release cable. The center of it functions as the button to allow you to push or pull the cable.

Here's some recent fiddling, drink bottle made into radiator overflow, stainless steel 37 Ford trunk prop, I like making stuff from scrap ally to look like castings, fuel pump block-offs are a good use of scrap. IMG_0516.JPG IMG_2007.jpg IMG_1971.JPG IMG_2226.jpg IMG_1114.jpg
