The blower on the car in the back looks small.

From George Klass: Frank "Ike" Iacano in his GMC powered dragster, using the engine that came out of his '34 Ford coupe. The car would later get a coat of orange paint and make the cover of HRM. This looks like Paradise Mesa.

This sidewinder was once run by Chuck Jones and Paul Nicolini, driven by Jack Chrisman, when it was sold the new owners put a blown Chevy in it and turned the helm over to Ronnie Hampshire. It didn't handle, and met its end with a cutting torch....another photo from George Klass

And more from George Klass....the Ed Losinski dragster at Colton. This was a beautifully constructed car that Harry Duncan later ran. It was finally converted into a slingshot and Jack Chrisman drove it with a blown gas Chrysler

From the Petersen archives, '61 Winternationals at Pomona, blown wedge Mopar...all-gas back then (correction, blown Pontiac, thanks, Roo)

    62NHRA.jpg
    '61 NHRA Nationals...Bantam bodied CC

    62WN.jpg
Dyno at Pomona (I think?)...going to Pasadena High in '60 was difficult because Dyno ran the dyno right down the street at C.S. Mead Chevrolet (before he got Steves sponsorship). The roar of engines on his dyno drowned out the lessons, or at least that is how I explained my low grades.

More Winternationals...back when altereds had steel bodies

    64cordova.jpg
More from Petersen: while Mike Maranov called himself "the Mad Russian," I don't think that this is him at Cordova, IL

Only info is "Big Ed's Speed Shop"

    66WN.jpg
Steve Bovan....blown 396" on fuel....story is that this was the first blown BB...homemade manifold...Mike Hoag built the chassis, Steve the engine.....steel body, doors worked...
