Let's talk... Discuss.... Debate cheater slicks...

    When did they come about?

    What size/era?

    Rims width?

    Wheel type? Mag chrome reverse?

    Blackwall vs whitewall....

Recap slicks were advertised in HRM as early as 1948.
''PIECRUST'' is a recently invented term. Kids use it now to describe any tire with ribs on the sidewall.
    Any size could be capped.
Any rim width. Wider was better.
Wheels were what you had - the more $$ you had, the fancier the wheel.
Any core could be capped - 8.20 x 15'' whitewall U.S.Royal Master was the favorite of most racers as the diameter was 31'' - 32'' compared to the 28''- 29'' cheaper brands.
''Cheater'' slicks were introduced when the police started enforcing laws against treadless tires.

    LOU WELLS likes this.
  4. google Bruce slicks or Inglewood Tire...both were available in the 50s
