Here is the 57 D100 I recently picked up. I have hit a snag due to my lack of research. I got a low mileage 218 with a newly rebuilt 4 speed that came out of a 49 Dodge truck that I figured I could drop right in. Well after getting them both in the garage, I see the 49 bell housing mounts directly in the frame, not using a cross member like the 57 truck uses. Also, the z-bar is way in the wrong place, the master cylinder is pointed the wrong way. The list goes on. I am hoping I can find a C series bell I can use and the correct floating power front engine mount, as mine is also not right. If I can't find those things pretty quick I will sell this combo and go V8 like I really want to do any way. If anyone has parts, or would be interested in my 218/4 speed, please say so!

Hey guys,

Just picked up a desoto truck. I've always been an old Holden fan, first car and only recently sold was a 62 EJ sedan. I'm a furniture maker by trade and wanted an old classic to run around in, deliver tables, pick up timber etc. Going on the theme of old fashioned quality craftsmanship I thought it would be great to have an old truck to go with it. Any info you guys have on these would be appreciated. Not sure of the year, with the single screen I was thinking maybe 54-55? Pretty new to the mopar scene so have plenty to learn.

This is my 1960 dodge panel that i bought i college, it was a huge basket case but i got it at a great price and it has taught me a lot, i have had for 3 years and hoping to have it done next summer

Here is my '49 B-1B. My grandparents owned it since about the late'60s, now I'm working on getting it back on the road.

 

this is my project, going to mount it on a S10 extreme chassis(2in lower than stock s10) with a Chrysler 392 hemi. and six speed manual,there is a company in Nebraska that makes a kit to BOLT on the frame no welding... been gathering parts now I'm ready to jump on it....anyone have a mint set of running boards??

 

My 1956 Desoto UTE is gone to Stellar Restorations in Windom KS. Looking forward to it's return.

 

What the company? The only one I found is $1500.

thanks guys for the warm welcome , i live in Ireland and the dodge was stored in a local shed for over 20 years before we found out about it and managed to secure a deal to purchase it , the history of it as far as we can find is that it was imported to Ireland from the states back in 1952 as a standard pick up . than somehow it was badged into a hearse using aluminum sheeting , sadly they removed the rear of the cab during the refit ,

it was seized when we got it but we managed to get it freed out and now it sits awaiting restoration ,
i am going to have to try and source a replacement cab and rear tub for it and maybe some upgraded brakes and wiring ,

these are a real rare entity here in Ireland and parts are not even heard of so i will have to get everything from overseas im afraid .

It would be a head-turner here in the U.S. for sure....and owning it in Ireland, would be even more of a interesting car from any visual you look at it....that would be one really cool car to be driving around in------------its your car, but it sure is cool, with lots of great potential....have fun!

 

Hello, new to the forum... I have a 1958 D100 sitting on a 1994 Dakota Chassis and running gear. Little Resto Mod project. Plan on looking mostly stock (slightly lowered, updated wheels and tires and other minor touches).

I have a early production 1958 Dodge with the Single Headlight... it is rare, but they do exist

The tailgate and back end of my 1956 Desoto UTE being rebuilt to repair all the rust and damage from years of working in the outback. Stellar restorations in Windom KS is doing the job for me.

 

I love the look, I just fit the 295/50's on the rear and they tuck in well I think. Now to get everything else done.
