Time to decide on Dash Knob/Key locations.
I have three knobs (Heater, Lights & Wipers) as well as the Ignition Key and Push Button Starter.

With my Gauge Cluster the way it is I can't balance the five items on either side of the Cluster. So I've decided to put the Ignition Key over to the Right and leave the Push Button Starter next to the Knobs.

The alternate I considered was to put the Key where the Button is now and put the Button out of sight under the dash. I gotta decide soon so I can drill out the holes and get the Dash panel off to paint.

Tail Lights (1941 Pontiac) have now been trimmed and fitted.
Here are some before and after pics of how much had to be taken off to get them to sit flat against the rear panel.

    Nearly there.
Just waiting on the last few pieces (Trunklid, Gas Tank, Hood, Grille Shell, Garnish Moulds and Dash) to come back from the Painter and I can get maximum weight on the car to measure up and have the Drive Shaft made. In the meantime I'll get Door Glass made and finish off certain small items.

Trunk lid is finally painted and fitted.
The wheels have been sent to get Trued Up, as they had a few knocks, before they get Powdercoated Black.

I made a template for my drivers side glass and sent it off to get some Toughened Glass made. Now I know why everyone builds Roadsters. The cost for this type of glass is criminal.

Glass is now all fitted. The Dash is fitted and tested ok. All electricals are done. Grille Shell and Radiator are fitted, as well as the front Cycle Guards.
I had a leak on the seam of my Fuel Tank so that had to be cleaned out, ground back and Soldered. The fuel system is now complete and tested for leaks, but I still have to work out where to fit a breather tube for the tank.
Master Cylinder brake lines had to be re-terminated as the Banjo fittings I initially had would not seat and seal properly.
Now to bleed the brakes again, fit the rear Cycle Guards and paint the Grille.
The Heater has been Powdercoated hammertone and vents chromed.
The Electroplater didn't test the metal of my heater vent handles and fried them.... To top it off he also lost my throttle linkages, so I have to make some new heater vent handles and purchase new linkages from the U.S.

Thanks. 55 Olds Dash & 41 Poncho Wheel. Something different I thought. But I love the Art Deco look.

My rear screen was AU$85, but that was just laminated glass. So I went to the same place for the drivers door glass and he charges me $300 for Toughened glass. I then found out that it passed through three different shops (toughening, Edge polishing, and the guy I took it to), so they each got their cut. So for the passenger side glass I took it to a one stop shop and got charged $130. Still expensive for what it is.

  17. I bet you cannot wait, good luck sleeping tonight knowing you will be test driving it tomorrow....

  18. That's a great looking car, well done. I like the couple of little pops of brass in the door hinges and engine block, just enough to add that bit of interest but not too in-your-face.

No startup today. I had a hiccup with the Fuel lines. I lost one of the fittings to the Fuel Block and most shops carrying such stuff are still closed here for the holidays. I'll go on the hunt for one tomorrow.
On a brighter side, the Brakes were bled.

I painted them Matt so they blend in as much as possible with the Tire. I didn't want them Gloss & Shiney to stand out.

I had the tracks I purchased with the Glide seat I was going to use, so used those.

  27. Damn so close.
