I bought this car in Kenosha last year. The story I got was an original owner converted the car to Gasser in 68/69. One trip to the drags resulted in a twisted drive shaft and the car went into storage. 45 years later, car is owned by original owners son who sells to a local and I bought it from him.
Couple of very important things, 327 motor was a replacement motor (service parts) that wasn't available until 1968 from dealer only, no numbers on head pad. When we tore it down it was like a new motor. Seems to have been purchased from dealer parts dept. and had very little run time.
Also, the frame is in excellent condition, totally solid. We patched the rockers and behind the gravel shields. Lots of J.C. Whitney parts added from back in the day.
I just don't understand how they thought this car would be a strip car with the 62 Corvette original rearend of 8.2 ring gear and 3.08 ratio, even though it is a posi. The car revs for days in each gear as is. I will not update the gear as this has course spline axles that will not hold any power. I complete rear swap is in order and I would love to find a 57-64 Olds/Pontiac with 4:56 gear set.
My guess is this car made it's debut at Great Lakes Dragway and I hope to bring it back there in 2016.

I met Ken at the Villard Ave. / Custer reunion 2 years ago and talked about this very car. He was pretty shocked by all the attention it was getting. He was in poor health at the time but talking about the old Villard days really put that spark back in his eyes.

 

Anyone have a picture of a 1934 Ford 4dr light metallic green from Chicago or Wisc. area. I have the car but just a trace of paint left on it. Thanks Bill
