G.M. bought 3 spd. Top Loaders from FoMoCo for their Heavy Duty trans, It was called the RAT 3:03
The info is in a Hot Rod Annual that I have somewhere. I had a GTO that had one in it in the early 80's, imagine my surprise when I went to do the clutch and saw that it was indeed a top loader. That was a great trans, wish that I had it now=Factory Hurst Shifted and all.

Minicooperclassic, in keeping with the Battle of the Bulge story I heard of a survivor of the Malmedy massacre that lives closeby. If you remember the history, the Germans captured US soldiers and took them out in the woods and shot them. He lived through that and ran only to be chased to a farm house where they burnt the house down trying to kill him and he survived that. I met a friend of his, hope to meet him soon.

I'm sure you are right Gary, that's why I said "I think".

    Certainly looks light.

  19. Wauw, that veteran must be very lucky. I know about the Malmedy massacre. 84 US POW's were killed, 43 escaped. That same group, Kampfgruppe Peiper, who killed the American prisoners, killed also a few days later over 100 Belgian civillians, also women and children. The leader of Kampfgruppe Peiper, Joachim Peiper, was killed in 1976 by (probably) former members of the French resistance.

But they were not sure if Joachim Peiper gave the orders to shoot the US POW's. He wasn't even at the scene when it happenend. Also, an American captain who was prisoner of Peiper said he was treated like Peiper treated his own soldiers.
