Here's the tree in the garage with the hotrods. The "Major Award" leg lamp gets moved to the living room window on Christmas Eve. so the neighbors can enjoy "the soft glow of electric sex".

Here's the other "tree" in The Hot Rod Grille garage. "Big Daddy" Don Garlits signed it when he was in Charleston, WV for the 10th Anniversary Rod Run & Doo Wop car show in October.

My buddy Manny didn't have a father, he was the man of the house and had a '53 Ford. It was coming up on Christmas and he asked if I'd give him a hand getting a tree - this is maybe 1966, Portland Maine, I was 16 and Manny was old enough to drive. Off we went to buy a tree, it was close to Christmas and the trees left for sale were scraggley, except for the one that had to be 18' tall. We got a bargain on it and tied it to the roof of Mannys' car, we only had a little string just barely enough for a 4' tree. Well, we almost made it across the bay bridge in Portland when the wind came up and turned that goddamn thing sideways! It cleared out all the lanes of traffic and got caught up is the steel girders. Holy christ, what a mess! We had the main bridge leading into Portland blocked off! We finally got it out of the girders and other cars, the police helped strap that thing back onto the top of the car with enough to tye it front and back, when we got to Manny's house it was the most pitiful thing you ever saw, mangled. But we cut it off and set it up with dignity. Wish I had a picture of it.

  8. My wife's 50, not exactly picking up the tree, but still in the spirit of the season. Merry Christmas all.

Good picture ratty-aussie, looks like you stole the Xmas tree and were in such a hurry to leave you tied it down facing the wrong way! LOL

Well, we use a non traditional fake tree, but here's a couple of shots we've used for family Christmas cards...
