One of the nicest guys I have had the pleasure to know passed today at age 76. Roger Gustin started drag racing as a teenager and was involved with racing the rest of his life.
    My condolences to his family.

Was he the Lava Machine jet dragster guy? I have his autograph from probably 1984.

  3. I have a picture of him with my son at the old Moroso race track in Florida, hanging on the wall at the shop.
He was a super guy, always took time to talk to the fans.
    He will be missed.

Yes, he was instrumental in getting NHRA to accept Jet Funny Cars.

As a kid I remember his jet cars at the Memphis events. He sure did a lot for the hobby & put together some big events. He was always friendly to us as we watched him prep his cars. Flux

I think he was involved with the Super Chevy Shows also.

He took over the Super Chevy Shows about 25 years ago and increased the turnout dramatically over the next 20 years until giving up control.
