I started this a few years ago after I bought one of Josh's frame and body packages from a gentleman in Ohio who never started it. I had a V8 flathead with a 39 transmission, Kelsey Hayes wire wheels with big and little sprint car rubber, stock Ford banjo, stock Ford beam axle, 40 Ford brakes. Pulled it all apart and installed a Lincoln V12 with a C4 automatic after stretching the frame 14 inches taking the wheelbase to 113". Found a V8-60 tube axle locally to put on the front and a Winters/Dick Spadaro quickchange in the rear. I went with hairpins just because I like the look and then added Roto Flo shocks doubled up at each corner. I had some finned aluminum backing plates from another car i built along with some 45 fin Buick drums and 48 Ford hubs I machined. Schroeder steering box and 17 inch flat four spoke wheel. I could not afford Halibrand wheels so I bought Rocket Racing solids with Excelsior Comp V tires which give me the look I wanted. Ken Austin supplied the 3x2 intake which will have Stromberg 81's on it and I plan on adding Ken Austin finned aluminum heads soon. The fiberglass body will do for now but plans call for a metal one from Jim Busseby at Olympic Speedsters in Missouri. More to follow as I get more done.

Block has been machined already and drilled for adjustable lifters, new Egge pistons, rings and all the other parts are neatly lined up on the workbench waiting to be assembled. Just need to sell a few more parts to fund the rest of this build. Video, no problem.
Vintage Roto Flo shocks from the UK, cast aluminum. These are the larger ones but there are smaller ones as well. Filled with natural rubber, produced starting in 1947.

The #43 sprint car in the Bill Smith collection at Speedway Motors runs dual shocks on the rear, this car and the Don Lee Special gave me the idea to do all four corners with the Roto Flo's.

Finned aluminum heads should be showing up on my porch any day now from H&H Flatheads. Stopped by Speedway motors the other day to see what new stuff they have acquired in the museum and ending up buying three of their Stromberg knockoffs just to see how they run. May end up using three 81's.

Hey!! That looks great!!!!!!!! Glad to see guy's still building these. Your's is going to be fantastic with the V-12 in it. Very cool. I've probably got Cut up Hood pieces laying around in my storage if you need them for stretching the body. Thanks for sharing, Neat build! J Shaw
I am not a fan of tube axles with hairpins. The old race cars only used a hairpin on one side. The rear would be better with a live axle of a four bar set up.
Just a look I liked and I got to use up parts that were in the garage. The rear will be located like the attached picture shortly.
