Out of all the drag cars of the 1960s, which ones would you say had the most eye catching affect on you?

I started this thread for people like myself who are in search of a paint scheme for their projects, and are looking for a form of inspiration.

Here is one of my favorite 56 Chevys

Of the gassers I've seen at a few big car shows, 'Orange' stands out the best for me...

Not a 60s style gasser here but maybe a little more 70s street freakish, I thought you might like this 53 considering your profile says you have a 54

I think my favorite gasser would have to be Ohio George Montgomery's 33 Willy's.

My two favorite gassers would be Bob Bernardons 39 chevy coupe Jolly Dolly was the name. Not only a fast gasser, but also a show car. Steve Crook's" Blew By You" 56 chevy out of Ohio. Maybe someone can post a pic of these gassers.

    Big John's Willys

Flawless candy paint, gold leaf lettering, blinding chrome and polished magnesium. I dare you to find a photo of this car where it is dirty. The gold standard was set in '64 when this car came on the scene.

  21. I think that the paint on Big Johns car is classic. I have always been a fan of candy red and simple lettering, as opposed to the circus paint jobs of the '70s.

I don't know why but I liked it better when he first hit the track with it before the candy. I have seen a better pic of it but it looked more like this one at first.
