Ahhhh........the quintessential sound of another Tardel Flathead. Sound should be trademarked. Can't wait to hear it coming down S. Congress Ave. Ought to be able to hear it about the time B hits Mary St heading toward the Continental Club. That's a 7 or 8 blocker for sure. Let's wake up the neighborhood !!
Motor is in... Shit is getting crazy around here... And it's about to get even more crowded... Hot Rods everywhere...
Inquiring minds want to know.. What's the plan for wheels? Does Brian have a super-secret set of Lyons he's throwing on there? Perhaps just the tried and true '40 Ford wheel with an appropriate hubcap/trim ring set-up?
what a nice change the dash is, the exhaust is perfecto, and sorry brother Nick, although we share birthdays we don't share opinions on the grill insert. It was the main attraction as I first viewed this car. Nice job shooting that glossy mill Ryan. It is dreamy. Thanx for the sweet photos.
Probably the most exciting day in the shop since Keith got Randy's roadster on the road a couple of months ago... Brian was coming in to check on progress, so Keith bolted on the headers, borrowed the wheels and tires from the Mearn's coupe, and put it on the ground. This car is really transforming into something special... I'm in absolute total and complete love with it...
Inspiring work guys! and a stupid question yet one I always wonder. How in the F&$% does everyone get the hubcaps on and off nice wheels without messing up the paint???
Carefully... Note the little piece of green tape on these wheels... Keith did that so he wouldn't scar John's wheels when taking the caps off.
Now, granted, I'm just an amateur hack, but I have a little plastic paint scraper in the garage that I use. Being plastic, even with the scraper edge, it's still pretty soft. It's maybe an inch, or an inch and a half wide and I haven't had any problems scratching paint when popping the caps off.
Lots of awesome going on here, that engine is stout, but in that car it looks spot on. If I could make a request for future engine builds, and I appreciate it may sound petty in the scheme of things, but could that engine stand get a coat of black (or dark 'Machinery Gray') paint please. Purely as from my perspective I feel that that craftmanship of the engine is the star of the show, and combined with your great photo's, feel that the red is trying to visually jump to the front of the queue. Minor topic, but something that I'd ask to be considered if you're looking towards doing a engine build book (series, period engines of mechanical distinction). Thanks, and again props to all involved in making of this car and this thread. Cheers, Drewfus
Yeah Ryan, What the hell you hack. (just kidding) Engine looks killer!! I'm not a flat head guy at all but I love that engine. Its perfect. I'm also very partial to 29 A roadsters. Perfect pile of parts assembled to perfection. Its a real hotrod.
