History Drag cars in motion.......picture thread.

Door on my roadster hand lettered in '84, I think. Cost $100 a side. Art Beringer lived down the street from me and he did this and my other two cars. Once he did a fleet of airport shuttle vans with the letter "Z" all over the vans. I couldn't believe he wouldn't use vinyl stickers. Not his style.

 

I believe this is Norm Paddacks Opel, quite a prolific chassis builder from the midwest.
One of the earliest tube frame builders of pro stock chassis'.

 

Dennis Jones out of Whittier is still doing hand lettering, gold-leaf. He did many of the gassers during the 60's.

 

Gary - dozens of pictures in the Super Stock and Gasser sections at the George Klass website of cars at rest with the attitude.

 

That is some very creative hand lettering and he is a true artist.

When I handled the restoration on the Ron Bizio truck for Tom Willford in '87, Jere Harley faithfully copied the original gold leaf, It still looks great today.

 

Another excellent hand lettering job performed by a true master artisan.

I agree with you 100%...I liked the gassers before they grew tail wheels.
