Denis: Take you time, it's cold outside. Brought the Speedster home from Cream de Chrome Car Show Sunday evening. Cool, Snowy ride!, but kind of neat.

It's OK, but pretty generic. Jim's book is probably the best one out there. In fact, I have to order another one as somebody "borrowed" mine!

  10. Jim's book is great. So good in fact I have a garage copy and a house copy. Happy December where did the year go? Les Andrews also make a blue book that is all about trouble shooting.

  11. Some of the stuff in California Bill's book are kinda off the wall such as relieving the ports which didn't really help much on 4 barrel, oops excuse me, 4 banger engines. I do have to say though at one time it was all there was on the subject. I lost my original one so bought one of Dan's reprints. The little Riley book has some interesting and good stuff.. After all these years screwing with model A's and B engines I think Jim's is probably the best available at this time. You can check out stuff like Ricardo's book on the development of combustion chamber the but you do not really need that info as you are just going to buy whatever head you can afford. Most of the things you read are about increasing the RPM's which just lead to bearing and crank problems. If you go to inserts you can turn it a little faster but get too fast and you will break your crank at , most likely #4 rod throw. If you plan a lot of freeway driving then you need a strong engine but you will need taller gearing. Nothing wrong with punching it from the signal but it is not a modern engine so you cannot drive it like one. But you can have a lot of fun and the feeling of accomplishment when you beat someone across the intersection. Just some thoughts that fell out.

I have all the books listed above but use the Model A Service Bulletins book the most as it has all of the the stock information that I'm too lazy to search for on the Fordbarn. There's a couple on the ebay for less than 20 bucks. I use it to baseline before making any changes.

Speaking of Santa-I need a T5 torque tube adapter/u-joint! Is Crazy Daddyo out there? I have a nice banger and fresh T5 4wd that desperately wants to mate to my 41 banjo torque tube. Santa?

Since we are asking Santa for awesome things I too would like a T5 behind my banger but I could settle for a '39 trans with Zephyr gears you know which ever is the handy at the time

Hopefully Santa has a Winfield BB intake in his shed that he wants to pass onto me for xmas. I would even swap him my mint condition Winfield B intake and some cash if required :)

  20. What's a T5 worth today? I have one over here in Oak Hills that I don't plan on using. I have an unassembled 39 box too. Just Ford gears. If I had some long Lincolns I would be running them!!

  28. Didn't use lube at the very back side but did drill two small holes in the cam so the oil could return back into the block.
