Any tool that will give me that home built look instead of that $350,000 Riddler Award look is what I need. You can't beat the look of hand made whether a louver, a bracket, a mount, whatever. Just make it different, make it neat, make it look like it belongs there.

    Hand Truck Tanker
I got tired of lifting gas cans..One electric pump, old hand truck, bungie cord. Pump runs on 4 AA batterys, so far has pumped 15 gallons on first battery set and even has an automatic shut off built into the clip on nozzle..

So is a pneumatic preferred over a mechanical hammer?
    Or vice versa?

Are there clear advantages of one type over the other?

I was considering making one that just runs from an electric motor with a fork & cam-action mechanism that works both ways. (Like desmodromic valve lifters on a Ducati.)

Made this anvil from a chunk of rail, way back in '73 or so. It's been sitting on my bench since then.
Didn't know much about making tapered parts at the time I was attending community college, so this was really winging it.
Drilled a center-drill hole at the back or "hanging" end, and another at where the point would end up.
Kinda half-assed guessing what the angle would be.
Chucked it up in a big ol' lathe and set to work making the bick (I had to look up the parts of an anvil).
The 1/2" sq hardy hole was a PITA to make.

And, in case anyone is curious, these are the features of an anvil

Here are a couple of tools I fabricated over the thanksgiving weekend. One is is a set of six(6) triangles for aiding in leveling a welding project on uneven concrete or floor. The other is a a pair of clamps to hold two pieces of round stock to be "butt" welded together. Mind you, both of these ideas were found while surfing the net, so I cannot take credit for these.
although I did add a 1 1/2 inch hole to the tube clamp, to be able to weld from underneath. And yes I did use the tube clamp before I painted...just had to try it out....lol. 20151120_090902.jpg

Figured I would throw this up as I used it again tonight...

Pretty simple slide hammer and threaded the end to thread the attachment on that has the same thread as the end bolt as the vise grip..

The you can attach any vise grip to it.. I made the end before I had a lathe so it's kinda crude haha

I took a peace of round stock and ground a flat side on it then shaped the point.
Then found a peace of scrap plate stock and went after it with my polish bridge port aka die grinder to shape the female die.
Now after some practice I found that I needed a guide or should I say a stop for the sheet metal and my female die so I welded the spear and some more scrap on a plate for my stop.
Then its a trip to the shop press and pump away. 20151130_200228.jpg 20151130_200251.jpg 20151130_200324.jpg 20151130_200535.jpg 20151130_200654.jpg

I made some press dies for 36 ford wheelwell/subrail details. They have locating pegs with a depth mark on them. Press until you see the mark and you know its the same depth as stock
