I know what you mean about the "Pro Street" look these trucks usually look like. I think the current five spoke wheels are adding to that effect. Maybe steelies, white walls and some Caddy caps?

Everything about this pickup flows . The chop , the running boards into the fenders , the tailgate and the tail lights. Amazing metal skills .

Oh yeah, those wheels and tires are temporary. They do add to that "pro street" look. The plan from the start was to get rid of them! They are pretty terrible!
Thanks so much! That's high praise. This project is really fun for us. Collaborating with the owner has been awesome! He is willing to swim upstream from what most people think and go with these crazy ideas. We are very grateful!

Hey quit picking on my wheels.....Those are Vintage Hot Rod High Performance Fast and Loud approved....besides that's how you drew the truck in the rendering during the design phase...

I like that you left the rear window full height and took the material below it. The window is kinda small to begin with and turning it into a mail slot as some are prone to do makes it look out of proportion on a round shaped cab like that. Great craftsmanship and metal working skills.

Oh, okay you're right! I forgot about that amazing rendering we did in the design phase! Based on this evidence I think the front might even be a 22". Lots of style!! IMG_9474.JPG

Thank you, like you said the window is small to start with so we think it works.

  9. I apologize to everybody for using "that fricken red truck" in my comment... It was handy and easier to show what I was proposing on it than on the primered-black truck.. I'm lazy. o_O :D I thought the idea was a valid option (I did say it was only 2 cents worth :()...

All joking aside, I do like the project truck and what you are doing with it - AND I promise not to use that other picture again! :D :D :D :D ..okay, now I can't stop using "smilies"..

B*tch? I hate to break it to you but you came across more like widdle puppy than b*tch with your comment. No harm, no foul.

Thanks, it's actually Hughs's 54 Studebaker pick-up. He's just letting us work on it.;)

I would think the bed would need to be shortened if one went with this option.
BTW, cgc, you are a chick. In the Pontiac or on the E wheel.

Taking the egg shape out of the roof made all the difference in the world. Great work and great vision.

Yes, I am a chick. (I took over my husband Clark's account since he is never on here. We wanted to share some of the stuff we are doing. Our shop is Clark Gillie Customs hence, CGC.) Clark's the brains of the operation & I'm the brawn. Just kidding. We're a team.
Yep, my daily is a 47 Pontiac & I wheel etc. (I know I look like a dude but trust me, I'm a broad;))Clark has been kind enough to teach me how to tig weld, shape some metal etc. I also took Wray's class & learned a ton! (I would highly recommend it!) I acknowledge that I don't know Sh*t! But gradually I'm trying to get better. I'm fortunate enough to have him trust me to work on one side while he works on the other. He's very patient!
    Thanks!
Here are some pics of the doors Clark is doing:

  24. Very nice work by you and your husband. Great to see a chick doing some hands on metal work. The little touches added to the exhaust is cool.
And plans on changing up the front grill area???? I always wanted to see some one put a stud car nose on one of these trucks. Just the center with the point somehow.
    Looking great girl....

Phantom Works did a Stude P.U. grill with a bullet. I don't really care for it though

I don't know if I like the way the grille and the opening work but I like the whole WWII USAF look of the grille.

Blending the rolled pan into the front end makes it look way too heavy. Of course that's just my opinion. :)

Is that your Poncho in the back ground of the exhaust photo? Do I sense another build thread in our future!!! lol I love all the Dare to be Different projects you guys do. I have been at this for 40 plus years but I still enjoy finding different ideas and procedures and adding them to my own. Great craftsmanship as always! Larry

Thanks!! The grill will change, just not yet. Too much to do to get it to Santa Maria for West Coast Kustoms Crusin' Nationals. We have a few grills that might be altered and customized depending on what Hugh wants to do. The Studebaker car nose has been done & we have a different vision for the front end. But, we will post pic when we are at that point.
