Hey, Bud I was thinking of using two paralell springs on my current project. Have you used this rear suspension on a rod B-4?
No I haven't run a suspension like this in a rod before. Done lots of other leaf spring set up. Jeeps, pick up etc. Super simple.
I picked up the wheels from Less Schwab yesterday. $108.46 total! One was slightly dinged on the outer edge in shipping. One that was badly rusted is lumpy in tube/tire area. All in all a hell of a deal. I'm happy. More pics-https://picasaweb.google.com/sixpics/19Wheels?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNfBsLnx15iobg&feat=directlink
Ach! Been sick as a dog this week. Killer cold on to of an attack of my genetic disorder(Hereidtary angioedema). Makes for not much done. I am off to the shop right now!
Fitting some of this stuff together seems like it takes forever! Backing plates done drilled and functional air scoops on. Now they need blasted primed and painted.
Spent the weekend fixing broken jeep and other things but managed a whole hour tonight to work on truck parts. Cleaned spindles for a trip through the magnaflux bench and built a finned fuel block. Still needs some holes and a bunch of other work but it is a start. I needed to work on my fin cutting technique. I have more of that in the future.
After a week of blasting and scrubbing I finally got everything in the booth and primed! A lovely shade of beige. Ick!
And got the spindles hubs and backing plates painted and ready to put back on. I hate paintwork. It sure does look nice once it is done though. And yes the booth at my work is filthy.
You don't know what nausea is until you have run a head rig into a log full of toredos. And Dumprat, my kid brought home the same cold you have, I have been down for the count with it for a week. lots of good stuff here, good thread.
Got my king pins reamed tonight. Adjustable piloted ream. No stupid piston pin hones. Note the pilot at the bottom. I start with them upside down, do the bottom hole then flip and go from the top down. Cut in three stages. Last cut being about .002. Pins fit super nice but the pins themselves are slightly different. One pin fits its own spindle but they mic at less than .0002 difference. And they line up exactly! No sloppy bullshit like the last set I had honed.
I also tried something new. I never have much luck with paint sticking on threads and brake parts. So I tried gun blue and oil as a rust preventative. Might work, who knows.
A friend hooked me up with some really good bits for my little truck. Need blasting and cleaning but that is easy.
Lookin good DR, hey been thinkin about stayin flattie, maybe some high perf add ons and shave the spare head I have....
