I finally got myself a pre ww2 project. Great Web site by the way. I picked up a 1934 cab and bed and grill, model a frame, and a 351w with auto trans and a couple late 30's axles. I plan to do a traditional style 60's hot rod out of it. Any help in what direction to go would be greatly appreciated. I figure step one would be to clean up and box the frame (who's kit is the best, wolf?). Then get it to a rolling chassis. Then get the motor and trans in. I have built newer vehicle and bikes but nothing this old. I got some aluminum bomber seats and another cowl with it too that I plan to sell or trade aswell. Thanks guys and awesome website.

    Great start.....

  3. Just a suggestion but why not sell the Model A frame and get a 33/34 frame.

If you stick with the A frame you will have to shorten the bed to center up your rear tires to the bed. HRP

    Yeah...like HRP says.
That '34 pickup body on a narrow Model A frame would be like a 2.5 car garage on a single garage slab .

Thanks HRP. Maybe I should sell it for a 34 frame. Would I be better to sell it and build a frame? I got a good deal on all the parts so I didn't know if that was a frame I could use. I'm trying to do this on somewhat of a budget but I want to do it right. Thanks guys.

  6. So everyone can help you better, could you post a pic of what you would consider this to be, or what you're aiming for please. Any reference pics will do.

I guess something between these three. Not quite as nice but not a rat. Drum brakes, most things on it typical of a 60's build.

So from searching on this website it sounds like most people suggest to use a 32 to 34 frame for what I'm looking do. Is that a more cost effect way than. Buying a aftermarket chassis or frame rails and welding one up? Thanks in advance.

Congrats on getting project, and heading in the right direction. as you have found out already, lots of good input available to help make things easier, and to help avoiding doing something twice.

Thanks guys, yeah I kinda thought that front axle wasn't gonna work. I'm going to put some of the stuff up for sale or trade while I work on getting the cab all straitened out. Thanks for all the help and input guys I can use all I can get haha.
