  1. I'm about finished putting this one together. New 350/350, factory power brakes with later model Saginaw 205 power steering custom cab with all the trim. That GMC trim is hard to find.

  3. LOL I own at least one of those in my pile of C-10s. :D

Next time I get a chance I should round up some pics of the collection I think we own about half a dozen in various states of disrepair.

Not a custom in the sense of this forum but a "Custom Camper." My 1966 Chevy Custom Camper C20 with 34,xxx miles, original paint, interior, drivetrain, wheels etc. The Custom Camper option package was new in late-65 and relatively few were built in this generation truck. 1966 was the last year of this body style but the first full year of production for the 327 "Hi Torque" V8 and TH400 auto trans in pickups (3/4 tons only). This truck has both of these along with the deluxe interior and appearance packages.

Camper trucks were somewhat unusual among pickups because they were typically used for recreation for the whole family, not strictly for work like most others. That's why they sometimes had more chrome and other creature comforts not commonly seen on 60s-era pickups.

This may have already been posted on here. Its bounced around a bit since I sold it 4 or 5 years ago. But here's my old 65. Most of the work was done by my buddy Dan at sick industries long before i got it. He sold it, it traded hands a couple times and got beat up in the process. I ended up trading my 61 belair for it. Then I reworked the body, Fixed a few things here and there, put a 61 grille in it, did the interior, painted it, and drove the hell out of it. Best rig i've ever owned. Now I'm wishing i never sold it. 5846345153_cb2666d8f7_z.jpg

  17. I wife has this 66 C20 her daddy bought it new in December of 65. He gave it to here when he was dying of cancer. 292 granny 4 speed and 456 rear gears. Ive seen her haul 7500 pounds of feed in the bed. she drove it until the gas got to $4 a gallon. Its still the orginal paint & drivetrain the wheels have been changed . I think it had 17 inch wheels when new. Debbies truck 007.JPG Debbies truck 002.JPG

Heres my 66 Suburban I built about 12 years ago. No bags. Just static drop and a 6 inch channel. Learned a lot on that project and fucked a bunch of stuff up. Getting another suburban in a few months and will be doing things right this time.

Easy to do, but if your truck will be street driven regularly that low you better be good at straightening the crossmember and A-arms. I went that route myself on my 66 Suburban.
Every part and I even meen EVERY nut and bolt, got hand cleaned and painted, had the upper and lower A-arms replaced with tubular versions, disc changeover, later power steering, rack and pinion, the whole nine yards. Ultimately pitched all of it and cut the frame off at the firewall and built a whole new stepped 2x4x6" rectangular tube subframe, not easy (or cheap), but no worries of bent parts on a regular basis.
Can't include photos because they are all in a crashed PC.

  29. Over the years I got to prefering the 64 thru 66 GMC trucks. I like the dash better. Most GMC,s have rear leaf springs. Makes it simpler to swap in a 5 lug rear to go along with the front crossmember disk brake swap. The grille on the GMC is real Chrome. Not dull polished aluminum like the chevys. i have collected three 66 GMCframes. Someday maybe I will build trucks on them. Ive never seen a GMC frame with a serial Vin number stamped on it?
