  4. That is something you dont expect to see under the hood of a Merc everyday. Another Nailhead back in service. What tranny did you adapt it to?

Looks great John, what's the history behind the motor? On another note, any of those 32 grille shells available in the background?

It's a 1965 gennie super wildcat-425-360 H.P. Grand Sport motor out of a Riviera. I couldn't get the guy to let go of the switch pitch, so the trans is out of a 64 Electra. I'm going to use a 2200 stall converter. The models came at no charge, but are doing the work on the old turd. The deuce grills have to stay with me for hopefully another 20 years when I will reach my fathers age of 91

Nice looking motor. And that garage is great for working on cars. Wish mine was that big.

I love the Nailhead. Here is a Crestliner Victoria custom that is Nailhead powered. I am working on it in the shop this week.

Nice motor! My buddy Dick LeClair's Merc, well known in New England, sports a 401 Buick coupled to a five speed and back to a '64 Corvette rear end. Here is a pic, I don't have an engine bay pic but I'll find one. This car was built 25 years ago in a one car garage and still looks terrific!
