Thanks guys. Spent today removing the windshield ,elongating holes, and moving stuff around to get a decent gap between the door posts and the windshield. I started out with the left side over-lapping and a 3/8" gap on the pass side! The GM assembly manual calls for 1/16" gap ( no weather strip installed at this time) . I have to do a little glass work on the pass door where the door runs parallel to the windshield (needs about a quarter on an inch added to it). I have taken pics of at least 20 different C1's of the same area, and some have a real nice fit and others, not so good. I imagine many came right form GM as such. I have mine as close as they are going to get for now. I still have some adjustment in the doors, and maybe I'll come back to these later, probably when it comes time to paint the car. On to more productive work tomorrow.

I certainly hope so. May not be painted, but it will sure be up and running. Today I installed the cove moldings I had bought from Corvette Central ( excellent quality and fit) and searching the internet for install tips came across your post back in 2011 on the Corvette Forum asking the same question ! Small world. It answered any question I had and the Corvette is beginning to look like a real car. Corvette 10 24 2015 side shot rs.jpg

    Baron,

I am kinda glad to hear it was just not me, a few things on the corvette were like what the? how does this go together? the new dash install was one of the worst jobs ever, as you know I am very critical of paint on a car and demand excellence on your part.

That car is a winner the way it sits and think you will be amazed on how its going to go over.

Looking good Baron. It is kind of cool when you are at this stage that every little thing you do makes you stand back and appreciate it.

Do these lights make my butt look huge ? ;) The rear bumpers are cast repro's, which is fine, but what is not ok is they are both driver's side bumpers ! Nothing that money can't cure. Can't "cheap out" at this stage of the game. Hopefully I will get the headlights in tomorrow. 1957 Corvette tail lights and rear bumpers on 11 6 15 rs.jpg

Thanks guys. One step forward, two steps back. I have not been happy with the look of the hood scoop on the car. Thought once I had it in primer I might like it better. So, I finished up the body work and primed it last Saturday , but if anything, I liked it even less. Just looked too boxy on the car. So, tonight after work, I cut it off and am going back to the first one that I had planned to install on the car( I have owned this scoop for over 30 years...about time I use it). One thing I have learned over the years if your not happy with something, you'd better change it before you finish the project, cause in the end, it will come back to haunt you. So, I add a few more hours to the project, a little fiberglass and bondo, and the end result is I will be much happier with the final outcome/look. 20151114_151312.jpg 20151116_174234.jpg 20151116_175543.jpg .

I think you made a really good move taking off that big brick on top of all that beautiful curvilinear hot rod body. I think that the scoop needs to be less 'look at me first' and even more (less is more). A smaller scoop with more curve to compliment that beautiful body. Jeezus, I hope I made some sense!

LOLOL! You and I are cut from the same cloth Baron. I've done the same many times...sometimes even in the middle of the night. Car Looks fabulous either way but you're the one that needs to be satisfied with it.

Baron, looks good. and that is correct that you need to be the one satisfied. There were too many times over the years that I would question my decision after it was already done. Today I try to redo it just like you did to avoid the constant dissatisfaction later on. If I have to ask myself "will I be happy with this later on" I know I wont.

  30. HAPPY, HAPPY that you are changing the hood wart. I never liked it also, but it is your car so I don't like to knock what others build.
