At least until NASCAR can figure out how to make all the cars the same, and keep all the ingenuity out and sell more franchised merchandise. Oh, wait, NHRA already did that.

One of the many funny cars driven by the legendary Paul Smith (#222 has been his race number forever. His older son Mike is #223)

This car is interesting because many of the company logo's on the car look to be hand painted on the car and not any type of decals or stickers. The Crane Cams on the front fender look hand painted to me.

He did...pitted next to me at San Gabriel...and proceeded to laugh at my motor mounts...now I was not the best fabricator in the world, but they got the job done.....a bit later I noted a welding rig welding on Mr. Machine's motor mounts...and they forgot to take the mag out or put tissue between the points, so welded them shut....one of the few times I really got the last laugh! (John bought his nitro at Blair's --- always trying for the long deal....)

Lions Drag Strip was used in "Who Won" Adam-12 Season 4 Episode 22, premiering March 1, 1972. In the episode, Malloy and Reed work with young hot rodders in an effort to get them off the streets. In a rare acting appearance, Dick Clark portrays Mr. Benson, the track's owner.

  26. Pete's crash happened right in front of us, about the 900 foot mark. It appeared the front of the car was just sucked right down into the pavement. Front tires couldn't take it. When the right one let go, the front end dove under the Armco, and a huge wad up ensued. They hauled the remains of the car down beside the shut off area, and left it sit there for a while. The cage was pretty beat up, and the front end looked like a train ran over it. Pete was on the cutting edge, and it finally bit him.

Is that some sort of 'wing' under the nose? Looks like it would drag if the front wheels were on the ground. Or is something bad happening here? I never noticed it before.
