Hot Rods 50's pontiac engine cracked head!

    Check out the 316 heads that FALCON H has. He is just outside of Waco, TX. He will probably make a real good deal for you.

    Wish I would have seen this earlier! Join the pontiac1950s yahoo group. Those guys have seemingly limitless resources for our cars! Mines a 56 Star Chief.
    Also if you haven't seen it check out pontiacsafari.Com for free manuals including the parts catalog!

    Ya I joi ed the yahoo group when you mentioned it last time we talked.

    Just heard back from the machine shop it's going to be 2,000 for labor and 1,000 for parts. Ouch, but mine as well do everything while it's all opened up

    i have a 1 ton 1955 gmc 288 which is just a 287 pontiac, it is a running driving truck. i plan on changing the engine if you are interested

    Junior, you'll want to verify this, but I think heads and pistons were different for Pontiac built GMC engines. Lower compression ratio or something. Can't remember exactly but pretty sure they aren't the same.
    Dimitri, I thought I remembered telling you about that! There's a few guys there that I'm pretty certain would have what you need if something falls through.

    Well darn haha I should have checked there first. I'm about to empty my bank account and max my credit card for this rebuild lol.
