    No, no, no....it's "Wally's Fillin' Station" ;)

Wally's Filling Station was the only gas and automotive station in Mayberry (although one is mentioned in "Stranger in Town" and another is mentioned in "The Loaded Goat"). Mayor Roy Stoner's brother is the owner of the gas station in "The Loaded Goat" episode. Andy and Barney would stop by for a bottle of pop, and on occasion Opie would stop by to get air in his bicycle tires. Water and air is free, but they do charge for gas. The filling station had minor thefts through-out the years.

Looking at that selector it might be an Overdrive model...Park/R/N/OD/L2/L1...others may confirm.

I never figured anyone would have heard of the "Hollywood Stars" baseball team. They were part of the Pacific Coast League. The other local PCL team was the "L.A. Angels". The manager and I think one of the owners of the Stars was a guy by the name of Fred Haney. He had a "club" for the kids (and I was a kid once) called the Fred Haney Knot-Hole Club. If you joined the club, you received a card and could get in free. I wish I stall had my card just for old times sake.

The PCL was a minor league professional baseball league and had a long tradition on the West Coast, with teams with names such as the Albuquerque Isotopes, Hawaii Islanders, Hollywood Stars, Las Vegas 51s, Los Angeles Angels, Mission Reds (representing San Francisco's Mission District), Oakland Oaks, Phoenix Giants, Portland Beavers, Sacramento Solons, Salt Lake Bees, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Seals, Seattle Rainiers, Spokane Indians, Vancouver Canadians, and Vernon Tigers (later the Tacoma Tigers).

Not in 55. Guess my point is, that isn't a vintage shot.

    It's a '56 chevrolet with a turboglide.

Whoops, my mistake, I was thinking of an earlier photo. Turbglides were first used in 1957 chevrolets as an option and turboglides had a grade retard selector position. Typing before thinking. Sorry.

    Further to Ned5049's point...
I suppose it could be a rare prototype one off thing that got out. But I am now looking at the hula girl the beads hanging from the mirror, the dash trim being somewhat polished and even the heavy glare in the windshield. I am into graphic art somewhat and one of the tougher things is recreating old scenes with new images. It can be done but it is not easy. Couple that with the knowledge base and we have a great Hambference to set the record straight. Great thread.

I just thought it was a cool shot of an old Chevy dashboard - you guys are the experts when it comes to vintage cars!

Scan_20150912 (7) (2).jpg Heres my mid 70's vintage shot contribution for tonight. Streetsville, Ontario, Mississauga Road looking south middle of town. Not the greatest quality but captured a moment...

Noticed the fat tires on the 57. Going to the drags?
