Awesome job! Keep at it, you made it a long ways in a short time.

  2. My first criticism, that might actually be a two door sedan. my first tip better put some air in that tire. :D

A lot of guys fool with those old MOPARS on this board so there should be a lot of good info here. Best thing I can tell you is to take your time and enjoy the ride. Pretty much anything that anyone can screw up can be over come. Looking at the pics someone has already made a mistake or two but you can fix 'em and if you make a mistake you can fix that too.

Keep us posted and change your age to 18 for us. ;)

How do these plugs look as in lean vs rich? I'm doing some tuning to the carb. It has a slight backfire (as in burble) when you let off from any amount of throttle only under load though. I guess this is normal? Thanks for any help. I just want to make sure the carb tuning is really dialed in before I drive too many miles.

Plugs look good. On the backfiring, maybe you have a tight valve?

Outstanding commitment to a very difficult project. My grandson and I hope to have his done by this time next year but you did this all by yourself, great job!

Usually w/hydraulics, you take the clatter out by adjusting out, then in, till quiet, then tighten further into the midzone of the lifter height adjust span. (Mid-sixties SBC's)
    Nice job!

Well I think that the brake booster may be bad causing a vacuum leak. I did read into the valve adjustment and there's nothing about it in my service manual. I'll be at the Topsham swap meet Sunday.
Thank you!! Have any pictures of your grandsons car?

Well I got my license but am still trying to get the carb tuned better. It didn't help that my fuel filter broke and let a bunch of crap into the carb:mad:.

A big thanks to Bob(oldcars.acadia) and everyone else from the car club who came over Saturday and helped me with my car. It's still not working:mad::mad::mad: so a carb swap may be in the future. After doing some research it turns out only small bolt pattern Rochesters like off of 283's or a small number of 1971 Dodges will fit.

Thanks Bob. I have a bunch of quadrajets would it be worth while to rebuild one and switch the manifold rather than just get another 2bbl?

Thanks!! I've been following you're build thread and really enjoying it!

    Yep:)

I'm still working on the tuning. I think I might have a big vacuum leak that's not helping.
