Great job! The car is simple (appearing) and looks and sounds like it is pure HOT ROD! I'd say it is an overwhelming success! Congratulations!

Man the car looks great. Snappy throttle in video! I bet you were nervous cutting that hole in 33 hood but it looks awesome! Wish I wasn't so far away from TROG but maybe next year. Got some friends that go out there. Getting the more door 33 home this weekend and picked up a 29 roadster that I'm getting sat. I think all of us on here like the same cars lol! Good luck kick some glorified model a butt (32's) with that model 40!!

Hopefully you saw in time that they've shifted the races a week due to hurricane storm threat.

Thanks 34ford5w!..Yeah,cutting that hood was a tough decision but I like the look of the full hood much better. Also, that hood isn't some virgin piece ,has a bunch of issues and it can always be welded back in. So I went for it..Glad I did!..Sounds like you and I have same taste in cars..Model 40's rule..so much more style than A's or 32's..

    Thanks Retro!...Will do!

Yes, I did..Thanks Jason..I may head down on Saturday for the party..Maybe Kohlers' band will play in the rain for us!

With all the rain we had out here and the postponing of TROG,I had some time and decided to take a shot at the seat. Runnin' Shine sent me a theater seat that looked like it could be made into a decent bomber -style seat..First I stripped the seat down to just the steel backing and made up side side panels.I used some scrap sheetmetal to experiment with the sides until I found the look I was after. Transfered over to 16 gage,I hammered some edging to match the theater seat back. I added some beading to match the back as well.Built a front panel with a rolled edge and a flat bottom. Tack welded it together and added a 1" riser to mount some sliders i had lying around the shop..Some hotrod black primer and spray can dyed the padding(until I get some black naugahyde). seatpics 044.JPG seatpics 047.JPG seatpics 051.JPG seatpics 055.JPG seatpics 062.JPG seatpics 061.JPG

All I can say is Holy Shit George! What's the seat belt situation?
Is it comfy? Do you like it? If so I'll send the other one in a few weeks.

Thanks Ray!The feeling is mutual..Your build is killer!

Wyatt,I got a set of old 3" racing belts that I'll strip all the tags off and they'll look like military belts..It's not bad as far as comfort,I'm gonna pad up the cushions a little..I made a few mistakes on this one that I'll fix on the next one..Send me another one when you get a chance..Thanks again for the seats,I think they will work out fine..

Nice! Thanks for the heads up.

Holy smokes George you have some skill!

You turned a theater chair into a bomber seat in the same amount of time it took me to set the pinion preload on my banjo rear.

Thanks! Hacking up some sheetmetal and welding them together is easy compared to that banjo setup..I've done several over the years so I know how difficult they can be. Yours had an extra set of difficulties which you conquered very well i might add.
