I've decided to get rid of my projects and just focus on a 1936 Ford coupe I picked up. I found this straight axle set-up and was wondering if it would be a good fit for my 1936 Ford coupe or my buddies 1941 Ford coupe? I've read as much as I could find on the internet, but I'm still not sure if it's a good choice.

Seller gave the following info: THE AXLE IS UNIVERSAL, THE AXLE ITSELF IS 48" ACROSS FROM KINGPIN CENTERS, AND THE HAIR PINS ARE 39"

Only if you're making a gasser.

I'm not making a gasser. Thanks for the info. I didn't think it would work. I wasn't sure if the axle could be swapped out and then it would work. The guy only wants $250 for the set-up.

All Ford beam axles in that era have a curvature which gives them a natural drop. Us rodders often add even more, to get the car low. This axle has no natural drop.

If you were to put it on a car that has a spring that is over the axle, it would raise the car several inches.

If you were to put this on a car that has a spring ahead of the axle, you would not only raise the car up by several inches (like 5-6"), you would also move the axle forward several inches.

That might be fine for a gasser, but not much else.
