I think he ended up getting the wires from Taylor. They are custom, as the spark plug tubes in this engine are only 3/4" inside diameter.
Tom is correct. The wires are Taylor and the spark plug ends are MSD that I cut 4 slots in the insulator cover with a milling machine so they would fit into his custom spark plug tubes. A very tight fit! An update on what the engine is going in. I have a friend who's a long time pin striper and all around great artist coming up with a rendering of the red ram in a Model A old school type drag racer.I have a 1930 sport coupe body sitting in the shop to use so , that's the start. Tony Nancy's 22jr. is the inspiration. So, I'm waiting on what he comes up with. More to come, Tim
Finally got it Lon..... just took a while being busy and such. Not sure if i will go the belt pulley route or keep it as is... I am(planning) to build a Red Ram for just this application.
Fast forward 3 years and all worked out exceptionally well…. engine is 0.40 over with ross blower pistons,a real carved clay smith cam,. … and other internal goods as well….4-71 and Rochesters run with perfection.Very very happy.
A 241-270 crank has more journal overlap than a small journal 327,383,400, 454 Chevy. The little hemi crank issues most likely came from the lack of a damper.
Jeff, Very nice coupe.....love the color too. Any style of a Dodge "Baby Hemi" is just sweet!! 32 Spitfire High Noon Speed Shop http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/street-rodder-features-my-32-coupe.945829/#post-10640018
A lot of good info. I've been learning as much as possible since getting this one over a year ago. We've solved a lot of problems and gotten it running good and cleaned up. I will continue to work on it this winter, and we should keep this thread going, I'm interested in learning more from you with the experience, thanks.
