    Two exhaust pipes or one?

I have the material to build a tube header and enough bits to fab an exhaust. 2.5" single. Or should I go 2" duals? Loud is fine. Crappy and poppy is not.

Duals, either create a 2nd dump on the stock manifold, or go with your headers, should sound real nice with Smithys.
Have a look at Mooses website, http://www.manifoldsbymoose.com/

Need more details. What else have you done to the motor?

For a stock engine, or a mild hop up, single exhaust is fine. Or you could go with the traditional split manifold and dual exhaust, stock diameter. For a serious hop up a tube header and duals would be ideal.

I hate split manifolds. Tube headers all the way!

Gonna be as much hot as I can stuff into this little motor on a tiny budget. I already have an offy dual intake. A 230 crank and 201 block with a fresh rebuild on it. Gonna try and stuff the 230 crank in the 201 with the 201 rods and skim the Pistons down to make the squish about right. No decking the block and a major head remodel. .404 cam and whatever else I can scrounge.....

2 My first car, a 40 Plymouth coup, I installed a split manifold with smitty mufflers and it was cool and loud.

Definitely two pipes. Now we need a thread on your engine build...

For a straight six header group the front 3 cylinders and the back 3. Make the header pipes as long as possible, then duals the rest of the way to the back of the car.

cant say anything about a flat head dodge but nothing sounds as good as a stovebolt chevy with a split manifold and glass packs ran all the way out back, but im sure the flathead will sound great with 2in pipe and good packs or she will really talk with strait pipes.
