It's just a couple of weeks away. Jalopy Fest VI at Grundy County Speedway in Morris Il. September 11th & 12th. We narrowed it down to Friday Night & Saturday dropping Sunday off the schedule. man,...I'm already comitted to the Hunnert Car Heads-up Drags in Byron that weekend, you've got a good show/swap goin there, maybe next year if the dates don't collide.
It would be beneficial if events like this would be researched and planned accordingly so as not to conflict times, but that's how it goes. I'd like to goto both, but... Just saying. :/
yeah, i'm just kidding. i have plans on attending. watching tattooed chicks wearing heels trying to walk in gravel is far more entertaining than watching cars break.
Problem is no matter what weekend you pick, you collide with some other show. That's kinda good, kinda bad.
We would of moved the date but every weekend at the Speedway is booked with racing from April to the end of September and october has many shows going on also. We've had the weekend after Labor Day for the last six years.
The headsup has been run in May & June in the past. Looks like this is the first year it's in September. Go figure.
The Heads-up drags have been at Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove Wisconsin up until this year;...they've been wanting a date change but could not get one with Great Lakes, so they moved to the Sep. date at Byron Dragway. The Heads-up date always conflicted with the Tin Butchers Scrap Drive show/swap held in Belvidere, Illinois in June. Neither of us could get a date change, until now. It's disappointing that good shows have the same date, but it's still better than not having events to choose from. ...we'll see how the Heads-up event goes at Byron this year, maybe that date could possibly change in the future, but that's not for me to say. The Scrap Drive date is locked in on the Saturday before Father's Day weekend at the Boone Cty Fairgrounds,...that fairgrounds is booked solid almost every weekend with events. ...hope everyone enjoys their event of choice, have fun.

We have been the weekend after Labor Day and the Morris Cruise Night is the second Saturday of the month. Some years we are on the same date others years not.
What does 8 bucks get you today? How about a full day at Jalopy Fest! Swap meet, one of the largest around for this type of show. A Pin Up Contest. Lil Mr. Greaser & Ms Ledfoot kids contest. A Chopped Top limbo Contest. Flamethrowing. Vendors set up in the commercial building. Some of the best Rockabilly music Live! Free Camping and we'll even throw in a free breakfast if you are still there Sunday Morning! Spectators are $8 Swap Meet spots are $10 including one wrist band Show cars are $20 for a carload.
To everyone coming out to Jalopy Fest this weekend. There is road construction on Rt 47 from I80 and goes to the north of the speedway. There is only one enterence that is open. It is on the far north side. If you are coming from the south go past the main enterence where the Speedway sign is and take the next right. From the north it's the first road on the left. There are barriers everywhere so be careful and the enterence is narrow. Please take your time getting in & out. Thanks
Suggestion: your web site is Flash only, which doesn't work on iPhones and iPads. You might want to put one up that does something other than tell me that I need Flash to see it.
I've heard that in addition to Jalopy Fest and the Morris cruise night, the county fair is also going on this weekend, so the Morris area may be kinda packed.
Quality Inn 812-942-6600 is the host Hotel The fair is up in Sandwich Il about 40 minutes north. Morris Cruise is Sat night but not many stay over. There are other Hotels in the same area.
