its time to build another traditional Kustom, some of you will remember my cross country taildragger 50 Ford Miss Loved, well now that's at a better home and I was left wanting another white padded top custom. so literally the day after the 50 was picked up by Reliable, I purchased this 41 Buick Convertible and had it shipped down to Miami. it already has a Nova clip with 350/350 running driving (for the most part lol) so my intensions are to build another cross country taildragger only this time I want to use modern drivetrain (going to swap 350 for an LS) and I also want airbag suspension. the body and interior styling will be late 40s early 50s, as best I can make it, but it will be a driver with power: steering, windows, brakes and even a/c. So I am shooting to finish this one in time for GNRS 2017... hopefully all goes well and I can make the 3k mile trek. Thanks! day it arrived (next to the daily driver 51 Buick): already installed disc brakes and power master to the 1970 Nova clip, planning out the chop: skirts arrived, convertible header removed from rack: 4" chop out of the A-pillar:
The hamb just got exciting again. Here is a factory sketch by Art Ross in 38. Don't tell me the designers didn't know where they wanted their rooflines.!
It would be cool to come and see yours. We are working on my 39 in Hollywood. I think i may be too chicken to do the chop.
will be a removable padded top, not folding. yes after seeing that car in person at GNRS few years back I am happy to be building one, one of my all time favs!

Yaril, looks like a good start. I will follow this, keep it up! Here's another one just like yours in Sweden.
no real updates yet. been wrapping up the year on customer cars and with the arrival of our baby boy! progress will pick up on this very soon
Very cool, Yaril ! If you can make it to the GNRS, try and make it to Salina in 2017...would be great to see that ride in-person, my friend ! BUT, if you do bring the '41, BEWARE ! Remember in Salina when I carjacked your Ford while you were taking this picture ?! (NOTE: Never leave your keys in your car...especially while you're taking a picture of someone who's conned you into doing that while they're sitting in the car ! ) Happy Holidays, to you, your wife, and, that new "pre-rodder" baby boy ! Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net
thank you Jonnie! your welcome to take my custom anytime no conning required. we are having a blast with the pre-rodder watching him grow. happy holidays to you and your family as well!
papajohn, not sure what the more "correct" reason for the removable top, but from my understanding... its first of all easier to build a padded top than rework all the frame to properly open and close, my opinion. second I think the flow on a padded top is most difficult to duplicate in a folding top. it allows for a softer rear shape and no tent-like looking on the top. I personally like the look of how it can flow with the body. I rarely removed my top but it is nice to have the option of removing it. thanks!!!
