I believe that the registration paper had to be on the column, so the police could see the owners name from the side window

That was true in Calif, the law changed when it became an invasion of privacy issue. Anyone
could walk up to your car and glean all you info....

Day 11: Let's head west. Casual drive up to Bridgeport where we grabbed a bite to eat then up hwy 108 and into the sierras! (Six Ball, next time we'll take 4) Great road, tight, narrow, steep, hey, like the Hill Climb! Up, up, up...photo op on top...then down, down, down. Sierra granite, big trees, river, wow beautiful drive. RPU pulls the grade with ease, then just cruises through the gentle foothills. You know the roadster's running good when you pass the Harley guys on the curvy roads! (no offense Runnin Shine!!)
Decided to stay the night in Angels Camp because my grandfather was born there, AND we were trying to prolong the trip! (kind of like this thread) Pizza dinner and the days done. Spectacular day!

Guess it's time to wrap it up. Just don't want it to end! Something about being on the open road in an open car...

Day 12: No hurry to leave, we're only a handful of hours from home. Breakfast, pack up, hit the road. In my infinite wisdom I decide that the best thing for us to do is stop in Lodi for ice cream. Found the Double Dip Gallery & Ice Cream in downtown. And what a treat it was. An art gallery that has an ice cream counter inside. Awesome! We chatted with Tony, the owner and an artist, while we ate our cones. Nice guy, good artist, and found out he was a hand letterer by trade. Double exciting for me because I love hand lettering and all that other designerly stuff. Time to move on. Onto Hwy 12, through the Delta, across the Sacramento River, and ever closer to home. As we figured, lots of wind through there. Had to take a break right before getting on I-80 west. One last leg. I-80 was just too crowded so we continued up and over Hwy 12 toward Napa. Bumpy roads and lots of traffic. Turned toward Sonoma and got to speed back up. Through the hills and around the bends, we drive into Petaluma and into our driveway. A sigh of relief (nice to be home) and disappointment (trip has ended) at the same time. But...WE DID IT!!! All joy and smiles as our neighbor came out in astonishment. Couldn't have asked for a better trip, a better partner, or a better RPU. What an adventure. Until the next time....

Johnny will wrap it up from here. See you down the road.

What a great trip! Johnny I hope you realize what a keeper you found in Suzi, not many ladies would agree to make that trip let alone enjoy it. Thanks for the ride!

There's a lot of support here. I bet you you could start a tax exempt foundation, get Federal grants, and donations just live on the road and we can enjoy virtual hot rodding from our recliners.

  25. Wow! What an epic journey! What are you running for a fuel tank in the RPU? How many gallons? Sorry if its been covered but what was the demise of your shoebox tow car?

I think they should be the Poster Children for next year. What a promotion for the event. I want to go next year!
