If engines had a "greatest generation" it would be the flathead. ;)

    Awesome. Thanks, love it

  10. Thanks for the post - that great stuff!

We have three running flathead cars. One tore down engine in the shop and one languishing out back in the weeds - gotta move that baby inside soon.
    Viva el flathead!

Fairly old news, Slider made those passes and recorded that video 2 years ago at Brainerd during the MSRA (Rick Schnell is a founding member) Super Secret Fun Run. There were / are a number of threads on it when the record run occurred. The odd part about was that it was very hot and humid that weekend, not the best air to be setting records in, but Nitro-Methane will cause weird things to happen.

it was definitely dead in the '70s. people thought i was weird for liking them! the saying used to be "you only need a vacuum gauge on a flathead because they suck!"

    cool run!
No! the flathead is not dead.
French military vehicles ran them till the early 90's. You can still buy them new, in the crate.
The flathead was a well designed engine & 7secs. says more than I can say about it.

936 was actually from his old motor that he stopped running at the end of 2010. That motor was run on a 50/50 nitro/alcohol mix. The new motor was built to run on a 60/40 mix and Rick estimated it was making over a 1000 hp.

At the end of the day, it is without a doubt one of the coolest and fastest dragsters in the country, and I never get bored of watching it run.

I agree with Big A! I didn't catch his name, but Announcer said it was the worlds fastest Ford V8 Dragster...! It sounded AMAZING, looked cool & fast as hell...! Here's a couple pics from Sunday at the Meltdown Drags... ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1439056404.518275.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1439056429.194344.jpg

Money can cure death or at least postpone it.......Do not confuse the flattie in the dragster with something most of us could do or even pay for :D
