Well it was supposed to be a banger trip but about 70 miles into the trip the banger started vibrating and making The engine is the original and serial number matches the frame so no reason to tear it up. Nursed it back home and am taking a car with 4 too many cylinders. Fast swap and back on the road so there are photos that you will have to put up with the trip. N-14 in New Mexico to US 285 to US 24 in Buena Vista CO to Leadville. Overnight stay in Leadville and on to Georgetown CO today.
Staying in Idaho Springs with some other folks that are here for the events. Some having driven from Minnesnowda.
First the car that didn't make but 140 miles and I am really really really disappointed that I'm not in a banger. Taken in the old mining town of Madrid, NM

Did make it to Colorado and here is the photo to prove that it happened. So you are going to have to be bored with more of 'my car' photos until we get a little farther along. DSC_0052.JPG

Were on our way tomorrow morning, but were from the denver area and will be driving a 29 ford coupe with a banger. It should be a great time for all. It coulld be worse you could be driving your daily driver. The roadster is cool.

I love Colorado and that area around Georgetown. Is the Loop open? I heard that the tall trestle washed out.

Hi Larry. The pictures are outstanding. and so was your hospitality, for with out it we would have froze our $%^#@&* off camping on top of the pass The room was awsome. Any time you need a place to stay on your way through east Aurora in Colorado, you got it. Sorry we didn't to catch up with ya on saturday. Scott was skidding the tires around every corner on the way to the top of the pass. Next year for sure with my Buick roadster. Thanks Again. John

Just got home from the Hillclimb. Mike and Amy and the gang deserve a great big THANK YOU! A lot of work goes into this thing and they do a better job of it than most huge shows that have been practicing for years. This is my 3rd year there and it just gets better and better. This is a gathering for Hot Rods, not Street Rods, not Muscle Cars, all others need not apply. A wider variety of flatheads, inliners, and bangers, you may never see in one place. Best thing to happen to the Colorado hot rod scene in many, many years.

Just got home. Had a great time from the early morning breakfast to the runs up the hill to all the really cool people I saw and talked to, but the best thing was the unbelievable hot rods and rare speed equipment on them. From around the country and beyond. I have seen it grow for 3 years I can't imagine what it will be like next year. It's not a car show it's a HOT ROD event. If you have not done it yet put it on your list and don't put it off get your butt up there.

John it was all my pleasure and as you can see below I saw Scott run. His car ran and sounded AWSOME unlike some others. You guys are too much!
See you next year in a Buick and I in a Banger.

  29. Yep this is an event not a show. I didn't even spot one crybaby doll or California duster all weekend. It's about the man, the machine and the mountain. Oh and the music is great too.
