I picked up this barn find in Murray, Utah in an abandoned factory for $2000. It had sat there since 1985 and had a blown motor. It had been towed here and the car had slipped in gear and blew a 5" hole out the side of the motor. This is a pictorial history of the build of "Gigantor"

Project started about a year ago and it sat for 6 months. It's kinda close to finished now. Here's some more pics of the boat!

Drove her for 2 days/maiden voyage and then the pinion bearing went out so she's back in the shop now... :(

What an amazing creation! In the interest of safety, may I suggest a flat horn button? That one could spear you in the chest in a minor collision.

  19. Man oh man, you guys did a number on that car!

It's a real dream boat. I like it!

I have a vision of driving down the I-35 late at night and see that thing coming up from behind. Ya begin to wonder just what it is? Looks sinister cool as it slides past and on into the night!

    Wow, ya got more pics???

This was midway thru the project. I do need to get a different horn button as this one sticks out a lot and interferes when trying to turn. I like the idea of sneaking up on peeps and cruising by like a phantom but running with the straight lake pipes, it's kinda hard to do. :)

Latest project is getting vintage plates that say "MAYOR". Next project after replacing the rear will be putting a Mustang II front end in, airbags and dropping it even more, stereo and considering a ragtop.

It was a birthday gift from my best friend to accent the car. We have similar taste in cars and I wanted a killer hood ornament. Not sure of the history of it and haven't seen anything like it. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1440120510.769052.jpg

    NICE!!!
I like the new roofline!Looks sinisterly low-slung and swoopy!
I especially like Your retaining all the original, beatiful brightwork in keeping with the car´s identity as the top-of-the-line ´48 New Yorker!
What´s Your color plan?Would look really good in gloss black, w/blacked-out windows and the fattest whitewalls You can find!
    What´s the story w/the drivetrain?

Keeping the bare metal finish and the windows are already bronzed glass. Pinion bearing went out so we just put in a new 8.8 rear end to have disc brakes.
