And I know I'm not the first guy to sneak a '39 in, this one was pretty cool...
I actually like the '39 headlights better (HERESY!!:D), and like the deluxe grill better than the '40 deluxe. Really liked the colour on this car too.

Good Morning, some images from Dixie that intertwine culture and the 1940 model Ford.

Good morning. Do you read Lynn Pew's blog, www.pewsplace.com? Great photos three times a week, mainly '32s but a lot of '40s on there too as he drives a flamed delivery. He also has a cars for sale list that has some '40s on it presently. Not inexpensive but what is today that has quality?

I don't ever remember seeing a 40 sedan delivery...hmm. How many of those were built?

  8. ......................The number that I've seen reported is a few over 5,500. I think total Ford production in '40 was over half a million so they are pretty rare today. As far as I know all of them had the DeLuxe front sheetmetal. I have seen a few that were "converted" to Standard front ends.

  9. Don't know the production numbers on the Panel Delivery which was based on the truck chassis.

I believe the green one with the waterfall trim above the grille is a '41, which are otherwise identical to the '40s. Apparently Ford made almost 7000 of the '41s, considerably more than the number of '40s.

Grey one is a panel delivery as opposed to a sedan delivery.

50Fraud, thanks for that, didn't notice that detail. Interesting that more '41s were made than '40.

Yes, that's an Aussie car, don't know who owns the car but that workshop is owned by a guy here in Perth, Western Australia named Steve Houlihan.

Here's a famous guy who loves '40 Fords, used to make a living with one. I understand he has quite a stable of them!

yup, ol' Junior could make a motor sing and car fly! I think someone told me he has over a dozen coupes, couple of which are the real deal that he drove in his previous vocation before NASCAR.

1940 Ford Ad-02.jpg 1940 Ford Ad-04.jpg 1940 Ford Ad-06.jpg Some more advertising from back in the day. I love folks reactions when they ask what year my coupe is, I tell them "its a '40 model and I'm a '43 model myself".

  24. The text in this ad confirms that Ford called the Coupe with the fold-down seats in the back a Business Coupe and not the often mislabeled "Opera Coupe". This debate has been going on since probably 1940.:D Maybe it was different parts of the country but, I grew up being told that the ones with the seats were Opera Coupes and the ones without were the Business Coupes. It always made more sense to me but apparently not to Henry.o_O:D:)
