Finally managed to tow my 53 Vicky to my painter for the remainder of the body work and some glossy stuff.

I can't believe I've had it for 10 years  and now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I've seen a few photo's on the HAMB and my mind's pretty well made up but show me your rides. Suede, glossy, chopped, old, new, stocka or gasser - any of this "forgotten" model to get me pumped. Go on, I dare you :D

green ones a car Frank Palmer built. Junker is my daily driver and I don't remember where I stole the B&W pic from.

The b&w pic is from The Big Book of Barris. It was Jerry Quesnel's I think.

    Here is mine

Don't own one myself, but I like them. Here's a really tasteful example...

I am a fan of the treatment of the guy from the "Lowering Block" did to his before selling it. I think it has a 54 Mercury front Grill now. Also, Doc Chop [no longer a user?] had an interesting take on turning this body style into a chopped, dropped and cut up sled. I have pics of both, but they are on a different computer, I will upload them later. Related: does anyone know if the headlight rings are pot metal or not? I am curious to know how they french the lights if they are.

I wish mine was done, then I could show you how I would do it.

I dig this one (pic below).

Thanks for the pics guys - I'm totally pumped. My painter has only had it 3 days and I asked him if it's ready yet. I won't give you his response:eek:

Dsertdroog, the headlight rings are pressed tin and I love that green one. I was going to go a similar shade but X38 emailed a pic ages ago of a 54 Merc convert: chopped, Cad caps, eggplant colour with a beige top. That's now the theme but does anyone have pics of this car??

    And Seymour I want your Junker:cool: KEEP EM COMING:D :D :D

52 & 53 rings are steel. 54s are die cast. 52 and early 53 headlight ring inserts were chromed steel. late 53 and all 54s were stainless.

I've never seen a diecast headlight ring for a '54, but I've lived a sheltered life. Here's a pic of my '53 from a few years ago. Thankfully, the wheels have long since left and the car is in need of a makeover but I want to be in on the party.

Hey Mike, that is awesome. I'm cheating on the tail dragger look with a set of bags (can pump the front up for a Gasser too :D ) and I've recessed my plates into the bars as well.

Please keep them coming - surely there's more HAMBers with these or photos of them. Not many to photograph out here, I believe mine is one of about 6 53 Vicky's in Oz.

Here you go. The 52-4 bodies are sadly neglected by many, I prefer them over the 49-51.

Some Images I have collected over the years.

The Red one is sectioned I think, the Coppery one is Mike's [sorry man, I was thinking of someone else] old ride in another form and of course the one on the bottom right is how Sailor thought one should look like.

The old salt is about right, in my opinion.

Thanx guys for the great selection.

Rickster, I knew you'd come through with some pearlers.

I went for a run in the red with gold scallops one at our last nationals (can't remember the owners name) and I also love the suede look - but I would say my pick so far would have to be the sectioned red one posted by desertdroog.

I'd love to see more but thanks to everyone who has posted photo's so far. Good to see I'm not the only one who digs this bodystyle.

    Later......
