two car? man that'd be sweet!

I've got a whole lot going on inside a 100 year old 11'x20' carriage house...

cold in the winter, hot in the summer, leaks like a sieve, has the occasional rodent problem... but I dig it.

I rotate motorcycles out between the garage and the basement (down a narrow/steep flight of stairs)... but at any given time there's at least 4 complete/running motorcycles (and 3 kids motos), 1 or 2 project motorcycles, my never getting anywhere Model A project... then stuff in the basement, under the deck, in the driveway (which is 80' long)

  6. This is my attached 20X20-have done anything and everything car related in this small garage over the past 18 years-Some days you feel like you are working in a phone booth.
You work with what you have and find a way to make do.
I am in the process stripping this space out for our upcoming move-kind of sad to see it with bare walls IMG_5642 - Copy.JPG IMG_5653 - Copy.JPG

  7. Asphalt Angel, your coupe looks familiar.

  8. I have had it on the road since late 2005-so it's possible we may have crossed paths somewhere - it's smooth and shiny now

  9. I've built in a 15 x 20 garage but current is roughly 40 x 40- I am able to park cars separate from work space-

Luckily the '50 is shorter than the '59. Tool chest, workbench and compressor are in the back. Wish it was a single door but there's a new garage in my future.

New cars have always stayed outside. I don't trust modern electrical systems not to burn my garage down. I disconnect the battery on anything in the garage.

  11. So many tidy two car sheds, mines almost embarrassing to post crappy phone pics, but I've got my 28 Hudson project back in its rightfully spot, and I'm plenty happy about it, so here it is, mess n all. Love your flag on display in a very well set up garage!

  16. Living on a Minnesota lake, you get what you get for garage size, gutted this building, including the old wiring and insulation, replaced everything inside, including windows. Wish it were larger but I built 2 cars here in 5 years, organization in key!

ran into kind of the same situation... we had a 35x55 old welding shop at my dads house.. a wind storm came though and ruined it.. so I had to add on to my house

    what I started with

its 26' wide and 28' long..

now have some work benches and some cabinets in it.. but I have found to keeping things on wheels make it a lot easier to store stuff in the corners and still have it usable..

sorry to hear ya lost your spot but hope it works out for ya

If I ever get the oportunity to expand to a 2nd hot rod its going to have be a small one, or I'm going to have to use a storage space to build. As long as atleast 1 vehicle is driveable it can be done. I don't have my drill press in here yet, and I'm not sure how thats going to play out, but I managed to swap & rebuild my drivetrain a couple winters ago with my wifes daily driver in there most days.

Just remember don't let the cars become shelves! Make sure the hand tools you use regularly are easily accessible, and I think its key to have the space in front of the cars organize and usable. I usually like to bring the front of the car in if thats where I'm working. I've been trying to focus on building upwards and taking advantage of good shelving. If I have something (like a toolbox) on the floor anyway the space above it is lost so might as well get a shelf there. Mines 20x22 and I'm loosing 2' on the right side for shelving that is still not being used effectivly. Unfortunatly I'm a big outdoorsman too so thats alot of hunting/fishing gear taking up prime realestate. I found the shed out back to eliminate the yard tool clutter to be the best thing yet! 2015-05-12 10_45_53-Microsoft Office 2010.jpg IMG_20130914_064121.jpg IMG_20150501_000552.jpg IMG_20150501_001029.jpg FB_IMG_1438710045069.jpg

And I would recomend going over to garagejournal.com there is some really good stuff in there!
