Hard to come up with something that hasn't been said. I agree on the dimpled plates and not wanting stuff to get in there. Mine are like that, mostly got pissed at how many times I dropped a fastener between the rails and how hard they are to get out.
    Really impressive!

thanks for all the kind words guys. hope to have more progress after i get back from melt down drags this weekend

  9. Saying it is just nice work is too much of an understatement. Really like the filled holes in the plates, the attention to detail with the belled holes in the center section, and the spreader bars. Please keep posting pics to inspire the rest of us.

This will be another sedan to set the bar like Steadfast Mfg. did a few years ago. Excellent design and fabrication work.

Your builds are some of the best on the HAMB, both creative and informative. Thanks for taking the time to post and I look forward to what is coming.

Love the work. All those subtle small custom touches will definitely set it apart. Only when you step back and really look will you notice how much work has gone into it. Love it!

finally an update!!!! got the radiator in from walker, and the hood in from Rootlieb. so of course i had to cut all of those new parts up lol. had to modify the mount tabs on the radiator to sit right on the chassis with it being pinched so hard in the front.

Then mounted the hood sides square to the cowl. i wanted the front end of the car to be more aggressive looking at a stand still. so i laid it out and cut a pie cut put of the hood top. .625 in the front tappered back to nothing at the rear. and cut .250 out of the grill shell to finish the look. those numbers dont sound like much, but man it really changes the look of the car. here are some pics of it all cut and clamped up

What is weld through primer ?
    Perhaps someone could explain.
Sounds like a primer that doesn't melt when heated.

Yes, it is possible for a 75 year old hot rodder to fall in love again with another Deuce sedan. Outstanding design and workmanship.

Weld-thru primer has copper in it so it will conduct the power for the arc for welding.

Pinched hard is right, must be close to 1&1/2 in. per side.
Mine was done 3/4 in. in per side and that made quite a difference. I'm a big fan of tightening up the gaps on a 32 between the frame and hood bottom.
Yes, a lot more work than people realize, but worth it.
Gonna be a good looking car.

WELD-THRU PRIMER. Is applied to clean bare panels BEFORE they are clamped together to be welded. It is a sink or cooper enriched coating that protect the metal in the heat zone when welded it forms a barrier and seal against rust, it is rich in Zink or Copper depending on which brand you use. The heat from welding really makes this stuff work.
Some times it seams to spatter a little more when welded but what you are really after is to stop rust between panels before it starts.
I been working in body shops all my life and this weld thru primer really works. I would not think about plug welding two panels together without using it. Frank
