Since I went to a Frank Marrata's car show when I was 12 yrs old ( 50 yrs ago )I fell in love with the looks of a 56 Nomad. Finally got into hot rods again about 1o yrs ago and started building 32 Fords. A couple of weeks ago I'm talking to a good friend and he tells me of a 56 Nomad a guy he knows has had for 38 yrs and the last 34 yrs it has been stored. In MY town no less. The rest is history. Called him right away.Looked at it . Sold 2 of my trucks and picked it up yesterday. Runs and drives good but needs a bit of finishing work. Will be my family driver. Thought I'd share the story...... here's a few pics too.... My first car (or should I say Station Wagon) was a 55 Nomad. I wish I had never sold it.

    Nice car.
56 has always been my favorite of the Tri-Five's since driving my Grandmothers 56 Bel Air back in the early 70's.

Sweet find, Lets see some interior and engine pictures before you put your touch too it.
3 speed? 4 speed? Auto? Straight axle gasser? Dropped spindle cruiser?

Wow, you are one lucky guy, I have always liked the 56 Nomads best. What are your plans for it? More pics would be good too, it looks very nice for being stored for so long.

Car needs interior done and rockers, part of a quarter panel was patched. But has a good running 327 with fuelie heads, rebuilt turbo 400 and rear and a few new mechanical parts. Runs and drives. Brakes need a look see. A good start !!

Plans are a 60's period driver not a trailer queen. Redo some things but I'm not going to make it a show car. Have too many of those now.

Trailer queens are for people with too much money, if I can't drive it, I don't want to own it!

    Dick,
Trailer queens aren't always owned by people who have money. But sometimes owned by people who have put sweat and all the extra cash they have to create something they love never want it destroyed. Been there done that.

No offense, I didn't say that the only people who own trailer queens are people with too much money, just that they are the ones to own them, because what is the fun or point of owning a car you won't drive? JMO but it just isn't for me.

  29. Looks like a good car. I am partial to 56s also, hence my member name. I used to think Nomads were gaudy when I was a kid but now I think they are a gorgeous classic.

I see it has the "bumper delete" option. Good score! My wife has a 57 Nomad. Glad to know you will be driving and enjoying it.
