Admittedly, I'm in an ultra dry desert area but after seeing what it does here I think the benefits there (humid and salty) would still be significant. May be worth investigating.

I don't know if it is bigger inside.......but it does swallow time! Heaps of it!

 

Is the Doctor in the house? Where is that going to live, out in the garden or is it for another use ? Bloody neat though !

 

It is for my daughter. It has a series of adjustible shelves for books etc. It was supposedly for her room......if it fits or possibly in the lounge.

 

Now that is such a cool idea for keeping the book shelf nice and tidy and also the sun from fading the covers etc.. I hope you manage to get into your daughters bedroom as she would be wrapped to have something so totally different from her mates.

Tell you what.........they getting damn hard to find for reasonable money for a youngster to start out on........a Ford escort! I have one, but not going to pass it on. He can build his own.

Wow, what a great car to start ones driving experience with, rear drive, manual gearbox, no power steering, no reclining front seats and a basic type 4 cylinder to learn mechanics on. Oh then when he is ready, an alloy Rover or Buick V8 upgrade and all the other pieces that go with it to bring the Escort up to Rodding standard. Oh yeah, Father and Son quality time in workshop building life long memories.

 

Mk2 estate. No motor. We have a 2 litre ready for it. One my workmates has a Sierra 5 speed with hunter clutch and pressure plate. So drive train sorted. A bit of body work with maybe some custom touches debadging and smoothing out. A custom intake and headers.

 

Yep got to agree with JW and mr Lash....I still have my Esky, is my everyday drive car now the rego is so cheap. still love driving it, manual everything and no stereo but still get out of it after every drive with a big smile on my face, such a fun drive.

 

Good one Wade and Marc, I once drove a MKII Escort auto (yes an auto!!) and it couldn't chirp the rears on loose gravel.

Still have mine. Been off the road for a few years now. Nothing wrong with it. Will get back to it after the coupe.

 

I don't know about the aut. but the little buggers can be made to really work! And can be quit a handful, and can Weil in a magnificent way.

A 2 litre with a weber or two, equal length tubes down to a "Cooper" muffler, Rostyle wheels and a mattress for the young ladies in the back, oh what memories of a long distance teenage years that brings to mind.
Actually my good buddy and I used a Mk1 Escort with a 1600 in it for club Rally's for a couple of years and that was a awesome treat on the gravel roads trying to read pace notes while going sideways 99% of the time.

 

Looking at the weather, we may struggle to get to Gisborn at all, let alone tow a car on a trailer. Both main roads to Gisborn are closed with snow and ice!! That would make it an adventure I suppose.

 

My 1600 is ported and polished with headers, twin down Draft 28/36 dcd webers and a Mexico grind cam. It will light the tires in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on dry sealed roads! I love it!

 

Yep, who needs a V8 in a light weight car to have some fun. Okay, we all love our V8's but I'm sure that Wade's son will get a blast out of the 2 litre Ford engine in a Escort especially if the engine is warmed up and it is an excellent car to learn how to drive correctly and defensible. I would think the Opotiki to Gisborne road would be open quickly as I can't imagine the snow laying for long down there. The ice through the gorge will be the thing to watch out for near the Opotiki side of the gorge.

Heck Wade, I got that so wrong on the snow issue down Gisborne way. Watching the news last night on tele. really shocked and amazed me as one would of thought they were over in the National Park, Central North Island to have those conditions. Well it will be interesting to hear if you made the trip and whether you got there and back okay.

 

Leaving in a few minutes. Beautiful day here. Heading to Cambridge tonight, then re-assess tomorrow for trip to Gisborne. Fingers crossed! According to the weather forecast there is rain on the way today then better tomorrow! Optimist in me says 'Go!'
