Just got a crate engine and 700r4 Trans hooked up. I then proceeded to put the Rear Axle on Jack Stands. When I started her up I saw the driveshaft spinnin and had the Trans in Park. Then I realized my Trans ATV Cable isn't hooked up to my carb linkage. I let her run for 5 minutes to check for leaks. Since the Driveshaft is Spinnin, am I doing damage to the Trans, and is the Driveshaft supposed to Spin in Park",, Thanks for input The Trans Linkage is as far Forward as she'll go ( PARK, RIGHT? )
If it's in park, the driveshaft won't spin. you probably had it in First. you can feel what gear it's in when you move the lever...one direction, all the clicks feel the same. The other direction, the last click is longer travel, and you can hear the park pawl engage (although you might have to turn the driveshaft a little bit to get it to "clunk" into park) No load on it, you probably didn't hurt it, as long as it was full of oil.
