Do they have a bushing at the top or does the shaft run on the aluminum housing bore? Thanks

Both my 68 250s had a bushing, easy to change.

I have a housing here that is supposedly a 68 by the part numbers. It had no bushing I can see. 1971 GM parts manual doesn't list a bushing... Where did you get the correct bushing?

Probably NAPA, I don't remember. Did you take out the shaft? Is the housing worn, or is there room for a bushing but it's missing. Maybe if the housing is worn and there was never a bushing you can slip in some shim to tighten it up.

Yeah is kinda sloppy but no I don't think I can bore it for a bushing unless it it's very thin wall. this is interesting because some say it has a bushing and some say no....must have been a production change, as in cheap out. Like there's no bottom bushing, the shaft is held by the oil pump...
