Event Coverage 11th anual King of Clubs Car show and Drags

July 11th is the date for the show at Barona, racing 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nostalgia Night racing
5p.m. to 9.p.m. D.J., free camping friday and saterday night. no open fires, a few vendors and food
available or bring your own food, propane barbques only ,

 

nOSTALGIA nIGHT rACING..................mmmmmmmmmmmmm (DOH!)

 

Last year was fun, we did'nt have the bands but almost every one participated in the races and got a lot of passes in.
To race you need a radiator catch can, a battery hold down, a seat belt and a helmet.

Butch Calkins from the Lifters won the full race class , El Mas Chingon last year, but Dale Vanzette and his Grocery Getter will be showing up this year for a long awaited rematch, Also Kevin Haley from the Lifters will be bringing his 55 chevy gasser, can't wait to see that one go down the track.

 

The Cat Killers will be defending the King of Clubs street class title again this year, they have been undefeated for quite a few years now, but the Lifters will be bringing a couple of pit bulls this time to the dog fight, so it should be a really exciting race

 

is there a schedule or website for Saturday? thanks Magoozi.

 

The King of Clubs race starts at 10 with grudge drags and after lunch we'll run em down to see who is king. After that there is a gambler and the Crower cars and some AFX cars running deep into the evening. It will be a full day of racing

Once again the Cat Killers put up a great fight and took the street class trophy home again,On behalf of the Lifters c.c. thanks again for all your support

 

We wanted thank the the Lifters for putting on a great race and show. We appreciate the work you put in to make this race happen. It's one of our favorites. We look forward to it every year.

Miguel, Who won Mas Chignon class? Did Butch and Dale race?

 

Butch was breaking in a new motor and a oil line broke, so he never got to race, Dale held up the fort and made it to the finals but lost to John Hildebrand's teal model A coupe, Dale put up a good fight and broke his car trying.
John is all pro and is impossible to beat but one of these days somebody will get lucky.

 

For the car show, the red 36 packard won best of show
