Good evening all, I am looking for pics of banger exhaust set ups. Specifically using a Reds header dual outlet. I am building a 1928 RPU and I have attached a pic of my engine with the headers mentioned. Two straight pipes straight out the back would be easiest, but I would like to see some variations used by you all before I make a final decision. Thanks in advance for your feedback
Different headers, but mine runs a 3" dia. straight pipe out the back. 000E2084 by Jakesrocks posted Jul 21, 2014 at 2:36 PM At the far end of the pipe I have one of those pull cable type cutouts. A 1" diameter pipe is welded in ahead of the cutout. If the cops start looking my way, I just close the cutout about 3/4 of the way. Quiets it right down. Sorry I don't have a pic under the car.
Here is what I used on my last 4 banger. This engine was in a vintage circle track car and made 168 hp on alcohol. I used this type design because I have had better success with it on flathead V8's than the long individual runner type.
Thanks pete1 looks great but I am looking for exhaust examples using the dual banger on fender less banger
There is a few on You Tube with true dual setup, I love split exhausts on 6 cylinders but for a Model A with its already off beat exhaust I would be running a exhaust crossover then back to a single exhaust ideally or duel exhaust setup. Listen to a few on You Tube and make your mind up. IMP the best sounding "A" are with the big 2 1/2 and 3" single exhaust with no or a very minimal hotdog muffler, gives that real old sound that matches the era of the car.
Thanks Richie I could have the two run back into one, I was thinking of hanging the two straight out the back or out the passenger side or just outside the cowl ..decisions decisions
i like dropping it out the side right in front of the tire myself cut at a 45 degree angle to match the running board...but thats just me tk
Like the gold paint too. I was debating going gold too for my A engine but could not find engine paint in that colour
I have to agree with Richie. Nothing like the sound of a banger, (or as we called them back in the day, "growlers"), running through a 3" straight pipe. No muffler, just straight pipe. Just a deep growl when you get on the loud pedal. For cops or grumpy neighbors just get off the pedal and she'll quiet right down to a low grumble.
So take the dual intake i currently have run it in to one with a 3 inch straight pipe to a bend out the left side before the tires
Mine goes all the way back & exits just slightly ahead of the rear of the body. For the cops, out of sight, out of mind. LOL
Not right now. I'll see if I can borrow the nephews lift this weekend, so I can get it in the air for pics. Gettin' too damned old to be crawling around under it to take pics.
probably too late here is my exhaust. no muffler was a little too loud for my taste this is a yapp cast iron exhaust everything else is mandrel bends
Single pipe coming out in front of rear tire. This is on my RPU. We also did the dual version which is what you are dealing with, with hunt up pics and post later. 2b-banjo Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
