I second that! I couldn't make it due to family obligations. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.
same here, had to work... then I was reminded I had a baseball game after to go to ! Well the Rainiers did kick El Paso's ass 14 to 4... beer was cold
Turnout reportedly was less than last year (no, I didn't go either...) as per the HAMB NW forum. It was brutally hot (for here), that probably had something to do with it.
Love Chehalis! Used to stay at the Olympic Club a couple times a summer back when I was runnin' around in the Plymouth up there. They started Billetproof there the year after I was no longer traveling up there.
The daily decided that it needed to eat right front tires so a trip over the pass was out for me. I'd rather see a lower number of real high quality or damned interesting cars rather than try to block roached out early 60's sedans out of the photos of the cars I want to take photos of just because the host let them in to boost the numbers. One car show participant issue in the state was that there were three major big draw events going on the same weekend competing for participants plus a long list of smaller local shows. Along with Billetproof there was the Greenwood Car show that packs a lot of prestige and may have drawn a number of potential Billetproof entrants who may have taken their car or their "other" car to that show. In Richland Wa in the Tri-Cities was Cool Desert Nights which is a big totally open show. They draw big numbers where you see everything from the crudest of rat rods to, brand new Hertz Rental Mustang Convertibles rented by the local business folk sponsoring the event so they had something cooler than their Prius to drive at cruise night. I talked to a lot of guys locally headed there for the weekend. The local car club that decided to put on it's annual show in the park two miles from my house had half the cars they usually do even with good advertising. I'd say the heat and the draw of a really big event 65 miles away hacked their numbers. That event is in a nice park with a great burger joint across the street and some of the best Mexican food in the North West within a ten minute walk of the park. They shut down at 1:30 while I was getting a haircut across the street and I didn't get a photo one there. It's been over 100 the past three days here and that has made a lot of guys say to hell with it I'll stay home under the ac this weekend.
For What its worth, I brought up my coupe from Eugene Oregon with my son as copilot for our first time at this event, and we traveled there with another couple in their 32 3 window coupe. They had been there before and also noticed the drop in attendance. But as for me, this particular event struck me as a breath of fresh air. I happened to like the smaller number of cars as there was a very good representative of a lot of different types of hot rods and customs to my liking, the folks there were so much fun, and the downtown cruise had the small town feel and relaxed atmosphere that made the whole experience of the day worth being there. I'll be back to this gem.
