The first two pictures are of Carl Stone's "B" roadster. Those are interesting radius rods?? I haven't seen any as small of a diameter before. Also Carl bought this car from Bobby Wolcott who had been driving it on the street with a flathead in it for several years. Any comments Bobby?

Wow. Great photo. That is the first time I have seen a photo of Custom Automotive in the early days. The roadster looks like the same one in post #20.

Comparing this picture with the picture of the roadster at Bonneville in 1952 (post 436), this looks to be the engine in the car. A nicely built race only flathead from Custom Automotive shop. 152 mph plus at Bonneville. Also notice that the roadster frame was z-ed in the back for the 1952 Bonneville meet.

  22. Karl,Those were not the radius rods that were on the car when I sold it to him...I assume Carl Stone changed them..
Remember,Carl built this car for racing and not the street.

Yes. This is the Adams Roadster that Mitchell Rosansky later owned and campaigned with a fuel enjected Olds.
Rosansky restored his Mitchell Automotive roadster back to this engine configuration for Pebble Beach and this is how it looks today, exactly with the cut down generator idler, mag, etc.

I've gone through all of the posts and did not see any mention of a Larry Phipps. He was from Arcadia Park area and had a 50 Ford with a Caddy engine. Anyone heard of him or his brothers?

Larry Phipps' Son, Dwayne Phipps still drives that 50 Ford with the Caddy engine all the time. Dwayne Phipps still operates Phipps' garage, on Reeder Rd. In fact, the original episodes of Fast N Loud / Gas Monkey Garage were filmed in the shop behind Phipps'. They now film "Fired Up Garage" there I believe.

image.jpg Anderson Automotive was in the same building as Carl Stone (Rolling Stone) they moved in when the building was vacant after Carl Stone went to prison. Hence they have the same address. Before this the Andersons worked out of their garage next to their house off Claredon and Hampton in Oak Cliff, they ran a Blue 40 Willis and then a Blue 33 Willis. I would go buy there often.

  29. One Shot...Frank,,,you are correct.....I see Mitchell Anderson at the geezer reunion every year,,sadly Donald has passed on....on a side note...when Carl returned from prison,he moved into a building out close to fair park,,bad neighborhood, but he made it known to all in the neighborhood that he was fresh from prison and would not tolerate any bull shit from them...He never had any problems as they were all afraid of him..
