    ...............................FRIDAY BACK TO THE 50's..............................................
So, I've been up since 3:00 AM. We left early and were in line at 5:00AM at the fairgrounds. What a great day. The weather was beautiful and there were well over 11,100 cars in attendance today. Tomorrow there will be more. The fairgrounds was packed with eye candy....

If you like gassers and vintage drag cars...you would have loved today!

A lot of HAMBers in attendance. Great seeing all the HAMB tags, toppers, and t-shirts at Back To The 50's. Well, I've been up a long time, kinda beat down by the sun, and I have baby duty tonight (2 month old) Also, I'm getting up and heading back to the fairgrounds tomorrow. I have a lot of photos and I will take more tomorrow. I will post them when I get a chance. Bed time for now...

    Thanks mad mikey.

Well, It's Saturday morning, the sun is shining with bright blue skies. Time to load the family into the hot rods and head over for another great day at Back To The 50's! I'll try and take more photos today.

  12. We went in '04 after I got back from an all expenses paid trip to Afghanistan. You've got to get to it at least once in your lifetime. We so under planned for it. At that time there was right around 10,000 cars and it was so overwhelming. We only planned one day which we didn't even hardly scratch the surface of the event in that amount of time.

Good to see my SoDak friends made it - they're driving the low-hangin' green "A" roadster in post 99.
And on behalf of those of us who didn't get there this year, thanks for the pics!

Wasn't there a twin cities car like that candy red '59 Impala back in the '60's? Is that the same one?

According to the info I have it was done by Barris, featured in the March 1960 "Car Craft". It was owned at the time by a guy named Norm Wesp but I have no idea where he was from.

The present owner is a long time MSRA member and had it at this year's GSTA show. Beautiful car. It would be cool to corner him sometime and get the history on it.

(Not to de-rail this thread but I do have a few photos of it on my website in the 2015 GSTA album.)

The car is owned by Byron Bode it is a clone of the Norman Wesp car. Byron did own the real car for a while after Norm. But like a lot of cars here in the rust belt it got used, rusted out and later junked

The car is gorgeous. Even my wife, who could care less about cars, thought it was beautiful and called me over to check it out.. She thought the interior clashed, though.

  30. That red four door Merc is definitely not my style, but I've always wondered what a full size sliding top would look like on a large sedan. I think it could work on a different styled ride.
